Our Teen/YA Summer Reading Launch is happening this Saturday!

Join Ms. Steffi and Ms. Payton at 1:00 PM for a FREE Ramen Bar Social where you can build your own ramen bowl and hang out with friends!

For ages 13–18. Registration is required so we know how much ramen to have ready.

We are still absolutely blown away. For the first time since our library opened in 1932, we experienced a Summer Reading Launch unlike anything we've ever seen. 🇺🇸🦅

In past years, we partnered with other libraries for a combined launch in hopes of increasing participation, and typically saw about maybe 10–20 children from our community attend.

This year, we took a leap of faith and decided to host our very own Summer Reading Program Launch.
..139 children signed up.

One hundred and thirty nine!

We are still in shock and incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support from our community. Seeing so many families walk through our doors, excited to read, learn, and spend time at the library!

Thank you for believing in us, supporting us, and helping make this milestone possible. This success belongs to all of you. ❤️

If you registered for the launch and still need to pick up your Summer Reading bag, please stop by the front desk this week. Reminder emails will be sent out this week. Below are pictures of some of the goodies in the launch bags—each child received a book according to their age group.

And if you missed the launch, don't worry! It's not too late to join the fun. Stop by the library to pick up a game card and program calendar and jump into Summer Reading with us.

Summer Reading has officially launched!
We can't wait to see all of our little readers (and their grownups!) who have signed up for today's launch event!
Our library dinosaurs are looking for their forever homes and can't wait to read with you! They keep asking if today is the day they'll meet their new family.🥹🦕 Until they get adopted today, they're hanging out at the library, supervising Summer Reading and judging our snack choices.

Sign up for our Summer Reading Program Launch for ages 0-12. Details below! 📚

Summer Reading Program for ages 0–12! This year we’re mixing books, family history, and a little old fashioned fun as we celebrate America 250.​ The first 100 kids signed up will receive a special summer reading starter kit, stop by on June 6th during operation hours to pick up your bags!

We’re so excited to share something else new in our Children’s Area! For the first time ever, we now have an AWE Learning computer available for kids ages 2-12 to use at the library! It’s made just for children, with fun interactive learning games and activities focused on early literacy, STEM, and more.

It’s touchscreen, has a kid-sized keyboard, and there’s no internet access, so families can feel comfortable knowing their little ones are learning and playing in a safe space.

As a mom of a toddler who really doesn’t do screen time, I’m especially excited about this. I love that it’s designed specifically for learning and exploration, and it feels like such a fun way for little ones to engage with technology in a meaningful way.

A huge thank you to our friends in Mars for helping make this possible. Thank you for your support and for believing in us, we’re so grateful. 💛

Join us this summer for our Young Patriots Cursive Writing Club! This is one of the summer reading classes we’re offering in celebration of America 250, and we’d love to have you join us. Register using the link below.

Ages 7-12. Space is limited to 24 participants. Once the class is full, a waitlist will be available. If there’s enough interest, we’ll be happy to add an additional class.

Registration is required to participate. No walk-ins. This class runs as a 9-week course on Tues & Thurs. Class begins July 9th and runs through Aug 6th.

Learn the art of cursive writing with Ms. Steffi! In honor of America 250, kids will practice reading and writing cursive while discovering how this skill helps us read historic letters, journals, and important documents from America’s past. With activities and hands-on practice, young historians will connect with history one swirl and loop at a time. Sneak peak of some of the materials for class that have now arrived at the library thanks to a donor!
