Temporary Lane Closure on Evans to Locks Road

Columbia County Water Utility wishes to inform the driving public of a temporary lane closure on Evans to Locks Road at the intersection of Evans Town Center Boulevard due to utility maintenance. The westbound lane will be closed to all traffic on, Friday, October 23, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The lane will reopen temporarily over the weekend before closing again from 8:00 AM on Monday, October 26, 2026, through 4:00 PM on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, weather permitting.

Whenever you approach a work zone: slow down; allow extra distance between vehicles; watch for advanced warning signs; obey road crew flaggers; and expect the unexpected. If possible, please plan to take an alternate route and/or allow additional time for commuting during this timeframe.

From youth sports to the parks families enjoy year-round, our Community Services department helps keep Columbia County active and connected.

In this week’s episode of The County Compass, County Manager Scott Johnson sits down with Community Services Director John Luton to discuss youth sports participation, programs for young athletes, and the parks and recreational facilities serving residents across the county.

They also discuss how the county maintains these spaces while planning for the growing demand for sports, recreation and places for families to spend time together.

‼ BLASTING NOTICE FOR GREENPOINT DATA CENTER SITE ‼

Columbia County residents and businesses near the Greenpoint Data Center construction site are advised that controlled blasting is scheduled to begin on Thursday, October 22, 2026.

Blasting is anticipated to occur every other day (Monday through Friday) through Wednesday, December 30, 2026, between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Exact blast timing within that window may vary based on site and safety conditions.

All blasting will be conducted by the project contractor in accordance with applicable safety requirements. Nearby residents and businesses may hear a brief blast and experience associated vibration during scheduled activity.

The County will share additional information if the blasting schedule changes.
