Evans Fire Protection District Providing professional fire and emergency services with Dedication, Compassion, and Excellence.

The Evans Fire Protection District is staffed with 17 highly motivated and professionally trained Fire Fighters and 3 Captains. Along with a dedicated administrative staff, Evans Fire provides 24 hour coverage for Fire Suppression, Emergency Medical Support, Hazardous Material Mitigation and Rescue Assistance 7 days a week on a rotating 48/96 schedule. Known as the "Queen City of the Platte" when

incorporated in 1869, Evans was the County Seat of Weld County for many years. From a population of around 400 in a true wild west town, Evans has grown to nearly 19,000 residents living in an urban area with a rural feel. Today Evans Fire Protection District is proud to protect a community where our residents have a wide choice of housing, great schools, all the shopping and amenities of a large town, and a great quality of life. With over 300 days of sunshine each year and a full four seasons, many people relocate to Evans to experience the best of northern Colorado.

Only two more days to bring your diapers by the station. We are so thankful for those of you that have already donated! We have filled our box, but we want to keep going (and we want to take home the win!) Not only are we accepting new unopened boxes of diapers and wipes, but you can also bring by opened packages of diapers that kiddos may have outgrown. As long as the diapers are clean and have a size, we can accept those lingering packs from your basements!

The babies from Weld County need your help! 🍼

Evans firefighters assisted Greeley Fire this afternoon with an engine, brush truck and command officer. While this is a tragedy, the quick response by all fire departments kept this fire from being much worse. Our hearts go out to all who were affected today.

Greeley Fire and Greeley PD are the lead agencies investigating, please reach out to them if you have any information related to this fire.

đź“°Grass Fire Kills One, Injures Anotherđź“°

GREELEY, Colo. – On Saturday, August 8, at approximately 1:39 p.m., officers with the Greeley Police Department and crews from the Greeley Fire Department responded to reports of a large, out-of-control grass fire near the interchange of Highway 34 and Highway 85.

Upon arrival, first responders found the fire actively spreading across several acres of open land near local unhoused encampments. Fire mitigation efforts faced initial delays due to safety hazards involving live Xcel Energy power lines in the immediate area. To ensure public safety and allow emergency personnel to work, all lanes of travel along the highway interchange were shut down for several hours.

During early response efforts, emergency crews located a deceased 45-year-old woman within the burn zone. A 48-year-old man was transferred to a Denver hospital and is listed in critical condition.

An on-call Greeley Police Department Detective was called to the scene and is conducting a joint investigation with the Greeley Fire Department Arson Division to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

The name of the deceased will be released by the Weld County Coroner’s Office pending notification of next of kin.

The Greeley Police Department extends its sincere thanks to the multiple partner agencies that assisted at the scene and managed traffic control during the incident, including LaSalle Fire, Evans Fire, Evans Police Department, Garden City Police Department, Colorado Department of Transportation and the Weld County Sheriff's Office.

Anyone who has information on this case is urged to contact Detective Max Moree at [email protected]. This is an ongoing investigation. No further details will be released today.
