Evans Fire Protection District

Evans Fire Protection District Providing professional fire and emergency services with Dedication, Compassion, and Excellence.

The Evans Fire Protection District is staffed with 17 highly motivated and professionally trained Fire Fighters and 3 Captains. Along with a dedicated administrative staff, Evans Fire provides 24 hour coverage for Fire Suppression, Emergency Medical Support, Hazardous Material Mitigation and Rescue Assistance 7 days a week on a rotating 48/96 schedule. Known as the "Queen City of the Platte" when

incorporated in 1869, Evans was the County Seat of Weld County for many years. From a population of around 400 in a true wild west town, Evans has grown to nearly 19,000 residents living in an urban area with a rural feel. Today Evans Fire Protection District is proud to protect a community where our residents have a wide choice of housing, great schools, all the shopping and amenities of a large town, and a great quality of life. With over 300 days of sunshine each year and a full four seasons, many people relocate to Evans to experience the best of northern Colorado.

Get to know our firefighters! This week's spotlight is on Lieutenant Igli.

My name is Brian Igli and I am a Lieutenant with Evans Fire. I have been with the department for 13 years, and my favorite part about the job is the trust and teamwork that comes with working alongside a solid crew.

Outside of work, I keep busy traveling and getting outdoors—whether that means going abroad or heading for the mountains or a stretch of river closer to home. Most of my time off is spent with my wife and our two dogs camping, backpacking, hiking, or finding our way onto the water.

Get to know our firefighters! This week’s spotlight is on firefighter Duhring. Hi, my name is Sam Duhring. I’ve lived in Evans, CO since 2013. My wife and I have five children—four boys and one daughter. Before joining Evans Fire, I spent many years working as a welder in the community, where I was able be a part local projects supporting the growth of the area through my trade. I was officially sworn in as an Evans Firefighter this January, and it’s been an incredible transition.

Outside of the station, I’m an avid baseball coach and have dedicated many seasons to working with local youth. Coaching has given me the chance to mentor young athletes, build confidence, and help create a positive environment for kids in our community. When I’m not on the field or at the station, I enjoy spending quality time with my family.

On Thursday evening, we will be swearing in our six new firefighters and promoting three of our current firefighters! Deputy Chief Lee, Captain Carmichael, and Lieutenant Hill have all worked hard to become exceptional leaders in our organization. Firefighters Calabro, Feather, Fout, Martinez, Masch and Patrick will complete their fire academy with a live fire training that morning and be sworn in that evening. We are excited to have them here at Evans! This ceremony is open to the public to attend and will be held at 6:30pm here at Station 2.

Get to know our firefighters! This week's spotlight is on Firefighter Netzel.

My name is Firefighter Ben Netzel I have been with Evans Fire for 10 years. My favorite thing about being a firefighter is learning something new every day, creative problem solving and building strong relationships with my crew, neighboring departments and the citizens of Evans. My wife and I have one son, and a baby on the way!

Fun fact: I played baseball in college, and have a cat named Frankie that randomly showed up to our house and we decided to adopt!

A red flag warning has been issued for tomorrow, Thursday May 14th, from 11am to 9pm. Please avoid outdoor burning, as conditions are expected to be windy and this can cause rapid spread of fire.

Get to know our firefighters! This week's spotlight is on Captain Udick.

My name is John Udick, and I am a Captain with Evans Fire. I started the fire service back in 2009 and I have been with Evans just over 10 years now. My wife and I have two boys and a dog, and in the summer we spend a LOT of time camping — usually around 40 days a year! Favorite place over the last few trips has been the Tetons.

Fun fact: despite my best attempts, I’ve never had a brain freeze.
