For our owner, John J. Cahill II (pictured here leaning on the truck), our business has always meant more than heating or plumbing. At its heart, Cahill's cultivates community. Customers become friends, colleagues become family. It's the people who have spent their entire careers with us. The people who have trusted us with their homes generation after generation. They're why we've been around for 135 years.

We do not need another fast-food chain like Popeyes at Dempster and Dodge. This intersection is already saturated with options such as McDonald’s, Burger King, Subway, Buffalo Wild Wings, and multiple pizza establishments—most of which offer highly processed foods with minimal nutritional value. While our community is fortunate to have Jamaican and Mexican restaurants providing more culturally rich and varied meals, what we truly lack are healthy, affordable dining options that support long-term well-being. Our neighborhood deserves better. We need food choices that nourish our families, not more of the same unhealthy options that contribute to diet-related health issues. Please sign and share.
Thank you

We, the undersigned residents, workers, and community members of Evanston, strongly oppose the proposed Popeyes fast food development at Dodge and Dempster currently under consideration by the the City of Evanston. This proposal is more than a single project—it’s part of a broader trend that is ...

🔥 "She Came for the Seat AND the System: Parielle Davis in Full Boss Mode!" 🔥

WHEW! If you missed Monday’s Rules Committee meeting, let me tell you, newly elected Councilmember Parielle Davis did NOT come to play.

She came to lead. To hold folks accountable. To move business forward, with grace and backbone.

While others stalled, played political tag-team, and tried to keep the old games alive, Parielle Davis stood flat-footed and called it out. She gave a no-nonsense warning: “He’s got 2 minutes. We’re not stopping business for someone who didn’t show up.”

And guess what? She meant it.

👀 WATCH HER IN ACTION and read the full breakdown of what really went down behind the scenes. You’ll understand why this moment matters, not just because of one vote, but because of what it reveals about power, politics, and the pushback real leaders face when they refuse to play puppet.

Y’all, these "rules" being voted on shape the entire direction of Evanston. They're deciding who holds power, who gets silenced, and who gets to move policy for the people.

⚠️ If we don’t stay engaged, they will keep making the moves while we pay the price. That’s how we got Trump, folks didn’t pay attention until the damage was done.

It’s because of statements like this that I keep pushing forward!!

To the Residents of the 2nd Ward,

This is Debbie Powell, Hecky’s little sister. I am a lifelong resident of our beloved Evanston, and it is with immense pride and conviction that I write to support Darlene Cannon to represent us as our 2nd Ward Council Member. I have witnessed firsthand Darlene’s growth into a compassionate advocate for all people, regardless of their background or status.

Darlene's approach is both personal and inclusive, ensuring that no voice is left unheard and no concern is overlooked.

Her commitment is not based on her own interests, but what will serve the community best. This is a rare and invaluable trait in a leader.

Darlene Cannon’s leadership promises are not just to maintain our values but to elevate them, ensuring that the 2nd Ward of Evanston becomes a stronger, more inclusive community for everyone.

This election isn’t just about a seat—it’s about the future of the 2nd Ward.

The choice is clear. Vote for integrity. Vote for accountability. Vote for Darlene Cannon.

Vote on or before April 1st for a leader who is truly of our people and for our people. I urge you to join me in voting for Darlene Cannon for 2nd Ward Council Member.

Warm regards,
Debbie Powell

Darlene Cannon demonstrated leadership as chair of the Evanston Equity and Empowerment Commission by jumpstarting a new “Good Food For All” policy that I discuss in this Daily Northwestern column. Darlene has my vote for 2nd Ward City Council.

Dear District 202 Board President Pat Savage-Williams and District 65 Board President Sergio Hernandez: When my kids were young, I volunteered on the now defunct “Joint Legislative Task Force” of Districts 65/202. Founded in 1979, this PTA Council-led group brokered dialogue between Evanston/Sko...
