Fireworks are allowed in Evanston city limits from 7 pm to midnight on July 4th only. Fireworks are not allowed at Sulphur Creek Reservoir. Be safe and smart with the fireworks, and we hope everyone has a happy Independence Day!

This morning the County Commissioners have implemented Stage 1 Fire Restrictions for Uinta County beginning at midnight tonight. This will prohibit the use of Fireworks in unincorporated Uinta County.

Based on this action, fireworks will also now be prohibited in the Towns of Lyman and Bear River. The Town of Mountain View does not allow fireworks at any time. The Town of Lyman will be holding a special meeting tonight at 6:30PM to discuss potential adjustments to these restrictions. I will put out more information specifically for the Town of Lyman later tonight. - Updated (The Town of Lyman will allow Fireworks on July 4th from 7PM to Midnight only, excluding Heritage Park)

As a reminder fireworks are also not permitted on BLM and Forest Service Lands, the Bear River State Park and Visitor Center and Fort Bridger State Park

I made this recommendation to the County Commissioners based on a number of factors, that include; the current fire conditions are high and approaching critical levels, the availability of additional air and ground resources in the Rocky Mountain Region being tied up with major fires in Utah and Colorado, the minimal overall water supply (especially in the Bridger Valley) and potential increased visitor traffic to the area based on the restrictions in place in neighboring Utah.

The public displays in Evanston and Mountain View will proceed as planned and we encourage everyone to attend those displays to celebrate the 250th Birthday of our Country.

Fireworks will be permitted within the City Limits of Evanston on Saturday July 4th from 7PM-Midnight Only. This does not include City Owned Sulphur Creek Reservoir, where fireworks will be prohibited. We encourage people to use caution, recreate responsibly and we will have Fire Trucks patrolling the city. The areas on the edge of town or near fields of dry grass or sage brush are encouraged to find a safer location for any fireworks.

If you have any questions, please contact me at 307-789-8556

Thank you for your understanding as we try to navigate this extremely dry year and keep everyone safe while celebrating.

Uinta County Fire Warden
