Crown Family Center for Jewish and Israel Studies Northwestern University

Crown Family Center for Jewish and Israel Studies Northwestern University The Center is comprised of the Jewish Studies academic program and Israel Studies, offering public lectures and other opportunities for learning.

The Crown Family Center for Jewish and Israel Studies is Northwestern’s academic home for the study of Jewish history, religion and culture. A program of the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, Jewish Studies is comprised of faculty from departments in the humanities and social sciences. Undergraduates can choose to major or minor in Jewish Studies, or just enroll in one of over 40 Jewish Studi

es courses offered through various departments each year. Graduate students with an interest in Jewish Studies work with Jewish Studies faculty members through their respective home departments. The Center plays an important role in student life, supporting campus activities including student conferences; theater and performance groups such as the Jewish Theatre Ensemble; and Hebrew Table a weekly lunch where faculty and students dine together over Hebrew conversation. We help foster cross-cultural understanding on campus through our support of various student organizations and special events. The Center sponsors many lectures, conferences and other opportunities for leaning and dialogue, often partnering with other academic departments at Northwestern or civic institutions. Many of our events are open to the public.
