We're sad to inform you that Dr. Rev. Mark Taylor died on May 18th at his home in Danville, IL. He was Senior Pastor at Hillside Church when we launched the Hillside Food Pantry in May, 2009. He & his wife Dianne, who died ten years ago, loved working at the pantry and were sad to leave us when they felt God calling them to plant a church in South Dakota.

There will be a memorial service for Pastor Mark at Hillside Church on Friday, June 14th at 3:00. All are welcome to pay their respects to him and his service to the Lord.

Our Story

The Hillside Food Pantry (www.hillsidepantry.org) is a ministry of Hillside Free Methodist Church in Evanston, Illinois (www.hillsidefree.com). The food pantry opened to the public the first week of May 2009. As of July of 2019 we have given away almost 250,000 bags of food.

Our mission is to engage Hillside Church and the members of the community in an on-going ministry to meet a local community need. Distributing 'rescued food' provides many opportunities to serve. We provide the setting and opportunity for people from all walks of life to come together for a common purpose and work side-by-side as we serve the community together.

It is a privilege and an honor to help those in need. Distributing food is a means of showing the love of Jesus. We give out of what we have been given. Treating patrons, volunteers and ministry leaders with respect and courtesy is also a means of showing Jesus' love. When we work together to reach out to others, it brings glory to God and blessings to all involved.

Our pantry is open to anyone in need of food. We have no geographical boundaries or financial requirements. Patrons are allowed to come to the pantry once a week, either on Wednesday’s from 4-6 pm or Saturday’s from 2-4 pm.
