Center for Independent Futures Center for Independent Futures is a nonprofit that supports individuals with disabilities.

What We Do:

Person-Centered Coaching and Education- Through coaching and experiential learning, work alongside individuals with disabilities using a straightforward, person-centered approach to support them in living full and independent lives. Community-Based Supported Housing- Address one of the most important and least satisfied needs of people with disabilities: affordable, safe, and inclusiv

e housing in their community, near family, loved ones, and friends, with access to transportation, jobs, shopping, services, and entertainment. Inclusive Community Building- Encourage people with different gifts and talents to band together, reach out for mutual support, form communities, and create the conditions for all to thrive.

This month, we hosted the first CIF Talent Showcase!�� 🥳

This came to fruition after a participant reached out to our Activities Coordinator to let her know that she wanted to host a talent show. After working through the logistics, her dream became a reality!��

Seven participants showcased their talents including playing piano, reading poetry, dancing, singing, and performing drag! It was a great time all around, and we are excited to do it again in the future! 🌟

This Wednesday, a coaching session took place at the McGaw YMCA - Evanston! 🏃The YMCA is a great resource proving a gym, pool, wellness programs, fun events, and more.💛

Cooking Club was busy this week! We made homemade pasta and cake!! 🍝🎂

With all the hard work that goes into making homemade pasta, everyone was able to develop new kitchen skills and enjoy a delicious meal!

Cooking Club meets on Zoom every other week where our participants work together to decide what they are going to make. Then on the alternating weeks, they meet in person to bring their plans to life!👨‍🍳

This Where Are We Wednesday, we're highlighting a coaching session took place at the Post Office! 📬 The Post Office is a great free resource that can be utilized to send mail, apply for a passport, purchase money orders, and access other essential services.

A perfect day for the perfect American pastime: mini golf! ⛳️ Even better when there were some hole-in-ones to celebrate!!

But no matter the score, it’s the people you share the game with that make it memorable. With plenty of laughs along the way, this was definitely a game to remember! 🏅
