As our nation gears up to celebrate its historic Semiquincentennial (say that three times fast) this July 4th, the team here at the Evanston Workforce Center is reflecting on what truly makes America great.

Spoiler alert: It’s not just the fireworks or the backyard barbecues. It’s you.

For two and a half centuries, the backbone of this country has been its workforce. From the early trailblazers who put down roots right here in Uinta County to the modern-day innovators walking through our doors at 98 Independence Drive (yes, that is our actual address—talk about manifesting a holiday!).

Building a strong community means building a strong workforce. Every time we help a local neighbor polish a resume, nail an interview, or pivot into a brand-new career, we aren’t just filling a job opening—we are keeping the American dream alive and kicking right here in Wyoming.

A few fun facts as we count down to the big 250:

**George Washington didn't have a resume, but if he did, we probably would have suggested a shorter skills section. (We get it, George, you crossed the Delaware, but can you use Excel?)

**Our commitment to helping local businesses and job seekers grow is just as strong today as the spirit of 1776—just with significantly fewer powdered wigs and better internet access.

We are so incredibly proud to serve this resilient, hardworking, and deeply connected Evanston community. Here’s to our history, our future, and the incredible workforce driving us forward into the next 250 years! 🛠️💼

IT'S WYOMING WEDNESDAY!!!!!

Did you know that North America’s longest river that never reaches the ocean runs right through Uinta County? 🏞️

The Bear River is one of the most unique waterways in the West. Here is what makes its journey through southwest Wyoming so wild:

🔄 The Ultimate U-Turn: The Bear River starts in the Uinta Mountains, flows north right through Evanston, loops through Idaho, and hooks back south to empty into the Great Salt Lake. It travels 500 miles just to end up 90 miles from where it started!

🦬 State Park Views: If you’ve ever walked the trails at Bear River State Park in Evanston, you’ve seen it firsthand. It’s the lifeblood of the park, winding past the local wildlife and those famous white bison herds.

🤠 History’s Highway: Long before us, this river valley was a lifeline. It sheltered the Shoshone and Ute tribes, drew fur trappers in the 1800s, and guided pioneers along the Oregon and Mormon trails.

🌾 High-Desert Life Support: Uinta County is a high-altitude desert, meaning local ranches and wildlife (like moose, deer, and cutthroat trout) rely entirely on this river corridor to thrive.

What do you love about the Bear River?! Tell us in the comments below!!

IT’S WYOMING WEDNESDAY!!!
We know, we know… It's not September, but this weather has us thinking about two of the greatest events in our neck of the woods! ☀️🏔️
There’s just something about a Wyoming breeze that gets us ready for the smell of campfire at the Fort Bridger Rendezvous and the sound of the announcer at Evanston Cowboy Days.

🏔️ One County, Two Eras: Celebrating Uinta’s Legacy
In Uinta County, history isn't just something we read about in books—it’s something we live. We are home to two of the most legendary celebrations in the West, each honoring a different chapter of our rugged past.

**The Black Powder Days: Fort Bridger Rendezvous 🪓
Before there were fences or towns, there were the Mountain Men. The Fort Bridger Rendezvous takes us back to the 1830s fur trade era. It’s a tribute to Jim Bridger’s legacy and the brave souls who navigated the Rockies. Walking through the primitive camps, you realize that Uinta County was the original "meeting place" for the entire American West.

**The Dust & Grit: Evanston Cowboy Days 🐎
Fast forward to the era of the high plains drifter and the working ranch. Cowboy Days is our tribute to the "Sport of the West." Since 1936, this event has showcased the grit of our ranching community and the adrenaline of the PRCA Rodeo. It’s a celebration of the livestock, the land, and the people who keep the cowboy spirit alive today.

**Why We Celebrate 🤠
Together, these events are the heartbeat of Uinta County. They remind us where we came from—from the trappers in the valley to the cowboys on the plains. We don’t just host these events for the visitors; we host them because this is who we are.

Which era are you? The buckskin or the denim? Let us know in the comments! 👇
