🎓 From Uncertainty to Ed.D. – A Journey of Perseverance and Purpose 🎓

We are thrilled to announce that our Executive Director, Sheila McGuire, has officially earned her Doctorate in Education with a focus on Higher Education Administration!
Her journey began in 1990 with more questions than answers and took a few detours along the way—raising a family, working full time, and finding her path one step at a time. From earning her associates at Western to completing her bachelor’s, master’s, and now doctorate through the University of Wyoming, all while living in Evanston and learning at a distance—she’s done it all.

“I’ve been a student most of my kids’ lives,” she shares. “I know exactly what it’s like to be a working mom going back to school—I know I can do really hard things.”

Her educational journey has shaped her not only as a professional, but as a confident, empathetic, and deeply engaged community leader. Dr. McGuire leads BOCES with heart, resilience, and vision—qualities that reflect both her personal growth and commitment to others.

Her story is a powerful reminder that it’s never too late to pursue your dreams, and that education can transform not just a career, but a life. We are honored to have such an inspiring and dedicated leader guiding our work at BOCES. 💙
