Connections staff showed out for our annual Staff Field Day this past Wednesday!

Every day our staff members undertake vital work caring for our neighbors. This work doesn't just include securing housing; it's also driving to doctor's appointments, standing in line at the DMV, packing moving boxes, working through mental health crises, practicing for job interviews, waiting on the phone with the bank, dressing wounds, buying diapers, or being a shoulder to cry on. It's all these things and so much more. Our staff members are there for it all, providing personalized, wrap-around support to make sure everybody who walks through our doors feels heard and cared for.

The heaviness of our work makes moments where we can all come together as a team to connect and have fun that much more important. Thank you, CFTH staff! 💗

Thank you to everyone who attended our Groundbreaking Celebration yesterday, where we celebrated the start of the construction project that will bring 30 shelter beds back to Hilda's Place in the Spring of 2027!

This project would not have been possible without the outpouring of support from a myriad of supporters who have been in this work with us every step of the day. We want to especially extend our gratitude to Lake Street Church, our partners in this work for the past 42 years, and to Congresswoman Schakowsky, who helped launch this effort more than three years ago with a $2 million federal earmark. There were so many more who supported getting this idea off the ground, including the City of Evanston Illinois Government, the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity, and Robyn Gabel for State Representative who all secured critical funding, along with our anonymous local philanthropist, whose deep commitment to Hilda’s helped bring us to our $6 million goal and made it possible for us to move forward. Thank you!🩵

Starting August 10th, Hilda's Place drop-in services will move to the 1st and 2nd floors of Lake Street Church. You'll enter through the courtyard entrance.

We haven’t had emergency shelter since we had to shut down during the pandemic, but the need never disappeared. We’re thrilled to be able to bring back this essential service in a fully renovated space in Spring 2027! Find more details here: https://www.connect2home.org/renovation
