The German Township Fire Department Corporation is taking closed bids for the flag pole that was damaged in the incident involving the fire station last year.

The non damaged section of the flag pole is 30ft long.

Minimum bid for the flag pole is $150. Please submit bids to [email protected] no later than 4pm on January 30th.

The members of the German Township Fire Department would like to express our heartfelt and undying thanks to the residents of German Township for allowing us to serve you during your hour of greatest need over the past 66 years. Without your unwavering support and generous donations, we would not have arrived where we are today to be in the position to take this extraordinary leap in emergency services.
As of 0700 hours on July 1st, 2025, the German Township Fire Department has merged with the Vanderburgh County Fire Department to provide a new chapter of emergency service to the residents of German Township.
While many of our officers and firefighters will remain in active service, we would like to take a moment to recognize the countless hours that past and present GTFD volunteer members have invested in training and emergency responses since we opened in 1959. The amount of sacrifices made by these individuals is immeasurable, and we will honor their legacy of volunteerism as we continue to serve through VCFD.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriffs Office, German Township and McCutchanville Fire Departments are on scene in the 3300 block of Northbound St. Joseph Ave due to a suspicious item.

Northbound St. Joseph Ave is closed for an unknown duration. Please avoid the area to allow crews to work safely and efficiently!

🚒 Happy Friday! 🚑

There’ve been some pretty big announcements for the emergency medical services community in the Vanderburgh County this week—with Evansville Fire Department’s exciting announcement of being awarded the city’s ambulance service contract, we wanted to take a moment to revisit some of the talking points and provide some clarity about how this change affects county residents.

The change to the city contract (effective July 1, 2026) only affects residents within the city limits. Vanderburgh County has a separate contract with AMR to provide ambulance coverage for Center Township (McCutchanville) and Perry Township, which remains unchanged with this announcement.

The Vanderburgh County Fire Department is proud to continue to provide advanced life support ambulance services to our Fire Territory residents outside the city limits—Scott Township, Armstrong Township, the Town of Darmstadt, and beginning July 1, 2025, German Township. Our commitment to these communities remains steadfast, and we’ll continue to deliver the high-quality care and service our residents count on.

Date: April 19, 2025

Subject: Incident Involving German Township Fire Department Headquarters

At approximately 17:24 today, the German Township Fire Department was dispatched to 8400 Saint Wendel Rd for an extrication accident with unknown injuries. While en route, dispatch informed responding units that a vehicle had left the roadway and crashed into the German Township Fire Department Headquarters Building.

Upon arrival, first responders found that a red pickup truck had collided with the building. Crews worked quickly and efficiently to safely extricate the driver of the pickup truck without incident. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

We want to assure the community that, while our headquarters building will be temporarily out of service, this will not affect our ability to respond to calls for service or impact response times.

4-14-25 @ approximately 6:30PM a semi truck has gone off the road while trying to turn onto Mill Rd via Big Cynthiana Rd. Please exercise caution when traveling in this area. Expect temporary delays as crews work to get the semi unstuck!
