Our Story
The purpose of ECHO Housings’ Homeless Veteran Reintegration Program (HVRP) is to provide services to assist in reintegrating homeless veterans into meaningful employment and to stimulate the development of effective service delivery systems that will address the complex problems facing homeless veterans. We are able to provide more than 25 direct or referral services, all focused on assisting the Veteran in overcoming their barriers to gaining employment and housing.
The HVRP office and staff are located at 2 Wedeking Ave. Evansville, IN 47710 – the James Bethel Gresham Memorial Home. James Gresham from Evansville, IN, was the first American casualty of WWI in 1917. The land that the home was constructed and still stands on was donated to James Gresham’s mother shortly after James passing.
Today, the HVRP continues to operate out of the Gresham Home and has six beds available to assist homeless Veterans with transitional housing for a period of up to 60 days. The home and Veterans needs are entirely funded through donations. This includes, but is not limited to, all day to day basic living necessities of the Veteran residents, transportation and any other barrier-resolving assistance that is necessary for each Veteran participant.
