At approximately 19:16 the evarts fire dept was paged to a brush fire in the river ridge community.
engine 1, tanker 2, and quick attack responded to the scene and and quickly got the fire under control. Mop up operations started at approximately 19:25 and everone cleard the scene at 19:40.

Please also everone remember Kentucky Division of Forestry has a complete no burn ban in effect at this time no one is to burning.

Rain is in the forecast for later this week. But very low humidity and high winds ahead of the front today will be dangerous for citizens and firefighters. Please refrain from burning!

Kentucky State Police needs assistance from the public, locating a 16 -year-old juvenile from the Evarts community of Harlan County who walked away from her residence. Ksp was notified on March 15, 2024 and began an missing person investigation. Breanna Day, walked away from the residence on March 14th wearing a black jogging outfit. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to contact Post 10 Harlan at 606-573-3131. Case is under investigation by Tpr. Pierson.
