A fantastic event and fundraiser by the Evergreen Arboretum And Gardens!

We have 14 dogs, 10 cats and just 3 stuffed animals running so far. One mayor from each category will win, but you can't win if you never enter! Signs can be placed on the Campaign Trail in the Arboretum. It's as easy as laminating an 8.5x11 piece of paper mounted on a stake! Or make a yard sign at a printer like Staples. Get in the game and raise money for the Shelter and the Arb. It's a win-win as they say...

A reminder that the transit open house is tomorrow, Tuesday, Aug 18th, and all are welcome to join. Administration will be bringing a proposal to council in the coming months and this is a great opportunity to advocate for which priorities you would like reflected in it.

The City of Everett and Community Transit are exploring transit consolidation and what it could mean for the future of public transportation in our community.

You can join us for a Transit Consolidation Open House on Tuesday, Aug. 18, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Walter Hall Banquet Room.

Come learn more about transit consolidation, ask questions and hear more about what this potential change could mean for Everett and our community. This is an opportunity to get informed, share your input and connect with representatives from the City of Everett and Community Transit.

Nominations for the Monte Cristo Awards are open until Wednesday! Is there a house on your block with a fantastic yard? Or has an owner worked hard to rejuvenate their house? Is there a business that's creating community? Nominate them today!

Nominations for the Monte Cristo Awards close on Wednesday, August 5!

The Monte Cristos are a community-driven award program honoring the people behind the well-maintained residences, unique gardens, friendly businesses and passionate community groups that make Everett such a special place. If there is a noteworthy property, business or group, consider nominating them for one of five awards:
🏆 Green Gardening - This award is given to homeowners who have implemented natural or green gardening practices.
🏆Neighborhood-Friendly Business - This award is given to businesses that rate high in overall visual quality from the street view.
🏆Pride of the Neighborhood - Homes and yards that consistently look their best deserve this award.
🏆Rejuvenation and Transformation - These are residential properties that have changed for the better, transformed by the owners to be a visual asset.
🏆 NEW! District Spirit & Community Collaboration Award - This award recognizes an individual or group who strengthen community identity through shared projects, inclusive engagement, and efforts to bring neighbors together.

We're also accepting nominations for the Marian Krell Award which honors a past Monte Cristo Award recipient who's excelled in maintaining their property over several years' time.

Submit a nomination for yourself, a neighbor or a random property that you admire by August 5. Make sure to include a photo with your submission 📸: everettwa.gov/montecristonominations

Sad to see our great state smothered in smoke and also that thick band over Everett. Please see the info below from Washington Department of Ecology regarding masks and recommendations for people with sensitivities to smoke and air quality. Local shelters are available for people to move indoors if needed. Take good care đź’š

In the wake of devastating wildfires in Spokane, we’re seeing statewide impacts to air quality. As winds shift through this evening, we expect to see smoke blanket the state from Vancouver to Spokane, including major metropolitan areas like Seattle, Tacoma, and Everett. If conditions become smoky near you, stay inside, shut windows and doors, and run an air purifier. If you must go outside, wear an N95 mask and stay hydrated.

Visit wa211.org to find clean air and extreme heat shelters near you. Check the WA Smoke Blog for smoke and air quality updates: wasmoke.blogspot.com.
