October is . Every year about 30 million American get the influenza (the flu). This impacts Force Health and Readiness, and simply is just no fun to have for you or your family.

This year it is more important than ever to get the flu shot. As COVID continues and we enter into flu season things will get very complicated. It will be hard to determine if your symptoms are influenza or COVID. This could put you at additional risk as early COVID illness could be mistaken for flu and not taken seriously enough until you are very sick.

What can you do?

WEAR A MASK - We are finding globally that since people are already wearing masks because of COVID that it is helping slow the spread of flu. Now you have two reasons to wear a mask ... .

GET THE FLU SHOT - Flu shots are becoming available in your community. Don't wait! TRICARE beneficiaries may get their flu vaccine at a TRICARE network pharmacy at no cost before the vaccine becomes available through U.S. Navy and U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) military treatment facilities.
