There are moments that make you pause and really think about the road behind you. This was one of those moments for me.
I am deeply grateful to the Zion Baptist Church, Bishop Robert Brown, Marcia Brown and Dr. Regina Shearer for recognizing my 32 years of public service and the work I’ve been honored to do for our city and surrounding communities.
Truthfully, when you’re in it, you don’t think about years or recognition. You just keep going.
You show up. You listen. You try to do the right thing, even when it’s hard. And over time, those day turn into decades filled with people, stories, challenges, and memories that stay with you forever.
Being recognized during Black History Month makes this especially meaningful. It’s a reminder that leadership is
about standing for equity, fairness, and dignity for every person, and understanding that we move forward strongest when we move forward together. Those beliefs have always guided
me, and they always will.
I share this honor with everyone who walked this journey with me. The residents who placed their trust in me,
the colleagues who stood beside me, the friends and family who supported me
through every season. You are all part of this.
Thank you for allowing me the privilege to serve. I carry this recognition with a grateful heart.

Wishing my forever Valentine all the love in the world 💘💘💘

One more for the road! Proud to get this multi-million dollar deal done for Everett before my time in office comes to a close. Here’s to getting the job done!

In the final hours of his administration, Mayor Carlo DeMaria signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Wynn Resorts that clears the way for the development of up to two new hotels on Wynn-owned property along Lower Broadway, bringing significant economic and transportation benefits to the City of...

To the people of Everett,

As we welcome the new year, I hope you had the opportunity to spend meaningful time with family, friends, and loved ones during the holiday season. This time of year naturally invites reflection, and for me, that reflection is filled with gratitude.

As a proud Italian American and the son of immigrants, I am deeply aware of how fortunate I have been to live the American Dream. That dream was made possible because the people of Everett believed in me and entrusted me with the responsibility of leading this incredible city. For that, I will always be thankful.

I want to take this moment to simply say thank you. Thank you for allowing me the honor of being your mayor for the past 18 years and for the opportunity to serve our community for 33 years in total. Serving as your mayor has truly been the privilege of a lifetime.

Over the years, we have shared so many meaningful moments together, like community celebrations, cultural traditions, neighborhood events, and milestones that brought us together as one city. These moments are among my most cherished memories because they reflect the heart of Everett: a community that values inclusion, pride, and togetherness.

I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together. We transformed blighted, contaminated land into Rivergreen Park, creating a vibrant space where families and children can gather and enjoy the outdoors. We welcomed major economic investments, like Encore Boston Harbor, which helped strengthen our tax base and added thousands of new jobs to our community. Every decision, from infrastructure improvements to housing and public safety — was guided by one simple goal: to make Everett a better place to live and work.

While I am proud of what we have achieved, I am just as excited about Everett’s future. I look forward to seeing transformative projects completed in the years ahead, including a pedestrian bridge connecting Everett to Assembly Row, a new commuter rail stop, the expansion of the MBTA Silver Line, and, one day, a new high school for our students that includes vocational and Career and Technical Education programs. I am also hopeful about the continued revitalization of Lower Broadway, including the possibility of a new soccer stadium that would further energize that corridor.

None of this progress would have been possible without dedicated city staff, past and present, who work tirelessly behind the scenes every day. Their commitment to Everett and to the people we serve has been unwavering, and I am forever grateful for their professionalism, passion, and dedication to public service.

As Mayor-Elect Robert Van Campen prepares to take office, I am confident Everett will be in capable hands. We have worked closely to ensure a smooth transition, and I look forward to seeing what he and his team will accomplish. His success is Everett’s success, and I wish him nothing but the best as he begins this next chapter.

Although this is my final message to you as mayor, please know that it is not goodbye. I look forward to remaining active in the community, watching Everett continue to grow, and seeing many of you around our city. I am also excited to spend more time with my family, explore new opportunities, and embrace what comes next.

In Italian culture, one of the ways we say “cheers” is “salute.” So, on behalf of my wife, Stacy, and our children—Carlo, Caroline, and Alex—thank you for everything. It has truly been an honor to serve you.

Salute,
Mayor Carlo DeMaria

I have always known that the residents of Everett deserve more than the inequitable burden of smokestacks and contaminated former industrial land that we have been asked to bear for too long. My vision for Everett has been for our city to have a vibrant waterfront with access for our residents, new clean industries that bring our residents construction and long-term job opportunities, improved public transit options, and new revenue sources to support city services.

I'm extremely proud of the work we've accomplished to reach such a beneficial community impact agreement that makes sure Everett gets what it deserves. Read my full statement here:

The City of Everett and The Kraft Group reach a community agreement on the proposed New England Revolution stadium, marking a major step forward after months of negotiations.

Greetings everyone ….I hope you all had a wonderful and joyous Christmas with friends and loved ones!

As this year comes to a close, I would like to take a minute to thank the many residents, businesses, and organizations that came together with their generosity and kindness to make this holiday season so much brighter for so many.

From our always popular Halloween Bash and our beautiful Veterans Day Service, to our fantastic community Thanksgiving dinner to where so many residents from all walks of life sat together over a delicious meal; we rejoiced in each other’s company.

That spirit continued as we all gathered and reveled in the tradition of our annual Christmas Tree lighting event in Everett Square, with Santa and sleigh rides, great music, and food. We lit the City menorah and stood in its light, as it dispelled the darkness and we celebrated the beginning of Hanukkah.

This community comes together like no other and there is no better example than the success of this year’s annual Toy Drive. We collected and accepted thousands of toys and clothing donations and distributed them to children and families in need. We wanted to ensure that no child would be left without a toy on Christmas morning and thanks to the generosity of so many we were able to achieve and surpass that goal.

I couldn’t be more proud of this community. It has been an honor to be your Mayor.
I want to wish you all the very best in this coming new year, and I know that together as a community, we will keep this wonderful city progressing forward in the right direction.
Happy New Year!

I was truly honored to be visited by Mayor Michael Nicholson of Gardner and Mayor Jared Nicholson of Lynn. On behalf of the Massachusetts Municipal Association (MMA), they presented me with a beautifully inscribed leather organizer in recognition of my service to the City of Everett and to the Association.

I’m grateful to the MMA for such a thoughtful gift, and to both Mayors for taking the time, despite their busy schedules, to personally present it. It means a great deal, and it’s something I’ll always cherish. Thank you!

Please join me in congratulating Nick Chiarello on his promotion to Lieutenant of the Everett Fire Department.

I was honored to be able to share his moment with his wonderful family. Nick is in his tenth year as a member of the EFD and serves alongside his brother Firefighter Peter Chiarello as proud first responders for the City of Everett.

Congratulations Lieutenant Chiarello!

It's so great to have the Health & Wellness Center back open.

Everyone deserves access to a safe and welcoming place to stay active. It supports both our physical and mental health, and Everett residents once again have a space that helps them do just that.

This project wouldn’t have been possible without the leadership of First Lady Stacy, along with the many staff and partners who worked tirelessly to reopen this space just in time for the new year.

This is for you, Everett. I encourage you to take advantage of this valuable community resource. Here's to a happy, healthy and active 2026!
