At approximately 5pm this evening while conducting traffic enforcement in the area of lower Broadway, Officer Marshall from the traffic unit had the opportunity to check the status of a motor vehicle in traffic. That check revealed that the motor vehicle was stolen. Officer Marshall requested additional units to the area. Once units arrived in the area, Officer Marshall attempted a MV stop. The operator attempted to flee the scene striking several vehicles but didn’t get far because of rush hour traffic. An adult and three juveniles fled the scene but were quickly apprehended because officers were already in the area.

Recovered in the MV was a loaded rifle with armor piercing rounds , powder co***ne and crack co***ne. Also recovered from one of the juveniles was a loaded 9mm pistol.

All four individuals are being charged with numerous firearm related charges and drug charges.

All four individuals lived in the greater boston area.

I would like to commend Officer Marshall and the other officers from the patrol division involved in tonight’s arrest for their outstanding teamwork and professionalism. Through their coordinated efforts, four dangerous individuals were taken into custody and two fi****ms were successfully recovered. Their vigilance, communication, and commitment to public safety contributed directly to the successful outcome of this incident. Excellent work by all involved.

June 12th Student Officers Nicole Flores, Shawn McCormack and Gustavo Romero completed the Cambridge / Northeastern Police Academy which started on January 5th. They will be starting their 8 week Field Training in the next week and then placed on a Patrol shift later this summer. Congratulations
