Chief Cameron deployed to the Aspen Acres Fire on June 29th as a Task Force Leader. During his few days there he assisted with structure protection and even worked night operations.

As of July 5th the fire is at 13% containment. It is likely that we will be sending more resources to help after the 4th of July Holiday.

Please be aware that we are now in Stage 2 fire ban. Be safe this Fourth of July

STAGE 2 FIRE BAN

Sheriff Reggie Marinelli has ordered a Stage 2 Fire Ban for unincorporated Jefferson County effective 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2.

ALL FIREWORKS are illegal during the Stage 2 Fire Ban. This includes fireworks that may otherwise be considered legal.

Since Stage 1 Fire Restrictions went into effect Monday, fire conditions have continued to worsen. Regional and national preparedness levels have increased, Red Flag conditions have continued with no significant weather relief in the forecast, and measured Energy Release Component values in the southern third of the county have reached the 90th percentile. The northern two-thirds of the county are trending in the same direction.

These factors, along with the conditions that triggered Stage 1 Fire Restrictions, make this move necessary.

All counties and federal jurisdictions adjacent to Jefferson County to the north, west, and south will also be under Stage 2 Fire Ban conditions.

This is not the time to take chances. Follow the fire ban. Do not risk starting a wildfire.

ALL FIREWORKS ARE ILLEGAL IN UNINCORPORATED JEFFERSON COUNTY

Fireworks are not allowed during Stage 1 Fire Restrictions. That includes “legal” fireworks.

Sheriff Reggie Marinelli’s order applies to all areas of unincorporated Jefferson County. If you live inside a city or town, check with your municipality for local laws and ordinances.

Colorado remains in a fragile fire environment, and wildland firefighting resources are stretched thin.

Do not risk it. Leave fireworks to authorized professionals.

Professional fireworks shows may still be allowed during Stage 1 Fire Restrictions, but only if they are fully permitted and authorized. Local governments can cancel those shows at any time, so check official local websites for the latest information.

To report illegal fireworks, please do not call 911 unless there is an injury, fire, or immediate threat to life or property.

Please only report fireworks if you have an exact address where they are being set off.

Penalties can range from a petty offense to a felony depending on the time, place, manner, and outcome. If fireworks start a fire or injure someone, the consequences can get serious fast.

But we need YOUR help.

Wildfires aren't just burning in Colorado. Thousands of firefighters, engines, aircraft, and other resources are already committed across the West, and the demand only continues to grow.

That means if a preventable wildfire starts here, there may not be another engine, crew, or aircraft just waiting to respond from area departments. And while our crews being deployed does not impact our response here, fires get out of hand quickly and can get to a point where we need help.

Every spark matters. Every decision matters. Help us keep our community safe.”

The fires burning elsewhere impacts the resources we may, or may not, have available here. Please, NO outdoor fires, NO illegal fireworks, NO tossing cigarette butts out of your car, and make sure you aren’t dragging chains or a muffler that causes sparks. Every single one of us has to step up to help our firefighters. Thank you for helping keep our homes safer!
