In the wake of yesterdays system we are left with dry conditions for Halloween. A blustery northwest wind will be the main thing to keep an eye on, particularly from the late afternoon and into the evening when gusts can peak to 40 – 50 mph. While winds can put a slight damper on evening Halloween festivities, gusts can also lead to some isolated downed limbs / branches. A relatively quieter weekend follows with dry conditions persisting into early next week.

* HEAVY RAIN AND GUSTY WINDS TODAY *
THREAT TIME: THURSDAY 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM

We've already had periods of rain move in, and it will continue to come in waves as we head toward midday. By this afternoon, more organized rounds of downpours move in, and this combined with leaf clogged drains and heavy rain can lead to scattered instances of poor drainage and road ponding. In addition to the heavy rain will be the wind, as it has been gusting quite well today. Most gusts have been 30 - 35 mph, though upwards of 40 or 45 mph are certainly possible, especially after these embedded downpours arrive in the afternoon. Watch for some downed weaker limbs and power outages because of this. After rain exits tonight, tomorrow will be drier, but even more windy. Halloween will see peak gusts over 50 mph, mainly in the afternoon and early evening, which has a higher risk of leading to downed limbs and power outages.

It is a wet start to the day with numerous showers around over the next couple of hours. There will be some dry intervals mid to late morning when showers will be a bit more on and off. This precedes the steadiest and heaviest rain that will build in from the west around midday and linger into the afternoon before turning showery late and tapering off in the evening. Downpours can lead to areas of poor drainage and roadway ponding in prone urban spots, especially with any leaf clogged drains. A cooler air mass will filter into the region to end the work week. Halloween will be dry with increasingly gusty winds, peaking late day and into the evening at 45 - 55 mph, which can lead to downed trees / branches in spots. Blustery conditions do unfortunately coincide with Halloween evening festivities which can make things feel slightly chillier than normal. A quiet weekend follows
