We would like to thank everyone in attendance for helping us celebrate our inaugural event and for making it an amazing memorable night. We look forward to making this a yearly event to celebrate the men and women of Ewing Township Emergency Medical Services and their dedication to the residents and visitors of Ewing.

The Ewing Township Emergency Medical Services would like to congratulate EMT Joshua Doles on the birth of Jaxson Joshua Doles on May 31, 2024. Jaxson came in at 6 pounds, 7 ounces and 18 inches long. Mother and Baby are doing great!

Ewing Township Emergency Medical Services participated in the 2024 Ewing High School Operation Prom assisted by the Ewing Police Department, Ewing Twp. Fire Dept. - Station 30 and the Ewing High Theatre Department to drill home the message of the dangers of drinking and/or using drugs and operating a motor vehicle. As the summer months approach, it is our sincerest hopes that all remain safe and responsible!

Colonel Patrick J. Callahan regrets to announce the untimely death of Trooper II Marcellus E. Bethea, badge #7829, Troop “D”, Moorestown Station, who passed away during training.

Trooper Bethea served with the New Jersey State Police for over eight years and was a member of the 156th State Police Class. His commitment and passion for serving the citizens of New Jersey exemplified Honor, Duty, and Fidelity.

Please keep Trooper Bethea and his family in your prayers. Details with regard to his viewing and funeral arrangements will be forthcoming.

This event was hosted by the Honorable Mayor Bert Steinmann and Business Administrator Aaron Watson. Attended by Family members, friends, and well-wishers, it was an honor and pleasure to swear in these fine care providers.

Tonight, multiple Unions, Foundations, Organizations, and Politicians combined to donate $2500.00 and Christmas toys to a Ewing Township family that lost everything in a devastating fire in Ewing Township back in October of 2023. In no particular order, the Honorable Mayors Bert Steinmann(Ewing) and Reed Gusciora (Trenton), Grady Griffin of The Griffin Family Foundation, the Ewing PBA 111 Civic Association, the NJ FMBA Local 393, NJ FMBA Local 93, The Trenton Emergency Medical Service, The Trenton Fire Department with Director K. Douglas, and the Grandmasters Lodge No. 1 of Ewing all came together to present this family with the opportunity for a new start.

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of retired Police Officer Christopher Danberry badge #85. Officer Danberry served the citizens of Ewing from August 1982 through December 2000. He has reported for his final patrol. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

The Ewing Township Emergency Medical Services extends its deepest condolences to our Brothers and Sisters of FDNY EMS over this tragic loss. God's speed Lt. Alison Russo-Elling.

Mayor Eric Adams and Acting Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh announced the death of Emergency Medical Service Lieutenant Alison Russo-Elling, a 24-year-veteran of the FDNY who was stabbed and killed Thursday afternoon while working at EMS Station 49 in Queens.

At approximately 2:20pm, Lt. Russo-Elling was on duty in the vicinity of 20th Avenue and Steinway Street in Astoria near her station’s quarters. She was stabbed multiple times in an unprovoked attack. She was transported in critical condition to Mt. Sinai Queens Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. Lt. Russo-Elling worked out of Station 49 in Astoria at the time she was killed.

Lt. Russo-Elling was appointed to the FDNY as an EMT in March of 1998. She was promoted to Paramedic in 2002, and to Lieutenant in 2016. She has worked at multiple EMS stations, including Station 20, Station 17, Station 16, Station 45, Queens Tactical Response Group and Station 49.

Lt. Russo-Elling was a World Trade Center first responder, aiding in the rescue and recovery efforts. She is the 1,158th member of the Department to make the Supreme Sacrifice while serving our city. The last member of the Department to die in the line of duty was Firefighter Timothy Klein of Ladder 170 on April 24, 2022.

Lt. Russo-Elling was 61 years old. A Long Island resident, she is survived by her daughter and her parents. Wake and funeral information are pending.

The Ewing Township Emergency Medical Services would like to thank all the Fire and EMS agencies for their efforts in containing the horrific fire at the Ewing Township Senior Center on September 30th, 2022. Although completely devastated by the loss, we appreciate each and every Agencies effort to limit the destruction to just property only. As the Township of Ewing gears up to rebuild a better Center, we Salute each and everyone of the Responders for their efforts and assistance.

Patrol Officer Manning proudly served the residents and visitors of Ewing Township for 2.5 years before embarking on his life long dream of completing the police academy. National Night Out (NNO) is an annual celebration of community held by police departments across the country. It is held on the first Tuesday night in August. It began originally as an event where you would turn on your front porch light and sit outside to prevent crime. Today it has evolved into block parties, cookouts, parades, visits from police, festivals, neighborhood walks, safety fairs, contests, rallies, and meetings nationwide. In Ewing, the Police have hosted the event in recent years at the Ewing Senior and Community Center at 999 Lower Ferry Road and includes food, music, fire trucks, representatives from local community groups, and more. Ewing's National Night Out will be held on August 2, 2022.

The Ewing Township Emergency Medical Services would like to acknowledge EMT Kaitlin McCann on successfully defending her Doctoral Dissertation. EMT McCann is now preparing to receive her PhD in Literacy this May. EMT McCann has served Ewing Township for 17 years. From volunteering for the Pennington Road First Aid Squad where she served as Chief, to working many Per Diem hours for us during the COVID Pandemic, EMT McCann's accomplishment is a testament to hard work and dedication. The Ewing Township Emergency Medical Services would like to congratulate Per Diem EMT Malik Sanders for successfully completing his Registered Nurse Program and for successfully passing the National Council Licensure Examination for Nursing. Malik has been a per diem EMT with Ewing EMS since November of 2020 and dedicated 1000 hours to Ewing EMS during the height of the Pandemic in 2021 while keeping up with his studies. Your contribution to the community of Ewing and its visitors was not unnoticed and we salute you for all of your accomplishments.
