♻️ What’s really left in your household blue trash bag these days?
With all of Exeter’s recycling and disposal programs available, you might be surprised how much waste can actually be diverted from the landfill! Every item recycled, composted, or reused helps reduce solid waste and protects our environment. 🌎

♻️ What’s really left in your household blue trash bag these days?

With all of Exeter’s recycling and disposal programs available, you might be surprised how much waste can actually be diverted from the landfill! Every item recycled, composted, or reused helps reduce solid waste and protects our environment. 🌎

Here are just a few programs available through Exeter Public Works:

🟦 Single Stream Recycling
Plastic bottles & containers, glass food containers, aluminum & steel cans, cardboard, paper, and more. Available curbside or at the Transfer Station.

📦 Styrofoam Recycling
Clean #6 foam packaging can be brought to the Transfer Station instead of throwing it away.

👕 Textile Recycling with Helpsy
Clothing, shoes, linens, towels, stuffed animals, backpacks, and more can all be recycled — even if worn or stained! Schedule curbside pickup or use textile bins around town.

🍎 Composting
Food scraps, meat, bones, coffee grounds, and even greasy pizza boxes can be composted in the Mr. Fox bins at the Transfer Station instead of being tossed in the trash.

⚠️ Household Hazardous Waste Day
Oil-based paint, gasoline, pesticides, pool chemicals, household cleaners, and other hazardous materials should never go in regular trash. Exeter hosts an annual Hazardous Waste collection event in October.

The less we throw away — and the less we consume or bring into our homes in the first place — the less waste we send to disposal facilities.
Small changes at home can make a big impact community-wide. 💚

What do YOU want to see in an Exeter Train Station?

The Exeter Train Station Committee has been working on an upcoming community design charrette to reimagine the train station and surrounding area.

What is a design charrette and why should YOU care about it?

It's your chance to share your ideas, both big and small, for what you'd like to see in the future at Exeter's stop along the Downeaster and the surrounding area. What infrastructure would you like to see? What would benefit the neighborhood, community, and seacoast at large? What would help economic growth?

If YOU have ideas or want to follow along the project, attend the event on August 7th & 8th. More info coming to the Town website soon.

Members of the 250 Celebration Commission were also at this year's Memorial Day Parade yesterday. Holding the America 250 Flag was a reminder that it has been 250 years since the nation's founding. The commission is helping to organize events throughout the year, especially this summer, to help explore this history and and how connects with our own stories here in Exeter.

To learn more about upcoming events, visit the Exeter Celebrates America 250 page on the Town website: https://www.exeternh.gov/250cc/exeter-250-event-calendar

Thank you to all those who came out, despite the weather, to help remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to our country. The Memorial Day Parade has marched up Water Street and Front Street to Gale Park for many decades and even with the rain, this year was no different.

A huge thank you also goes out to the volunteers, town staff, and other community groups that came together to help make sure the parade and ceremonies happen every year, thank you.
