Since 6 p.m. Sunday, our DPW has worked diligently to address the severe storm, despite deep snow, equipment setbacks, and fallen trees. We remain committed to clearing every road as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this challenging time.

UPDATE!!! ROAD WORK / LANE CLOUSERS
Due to rain and extreme heat our road work has been delayed. New dates are as follows below. Thank you for your patience.
In lieu of road closures expect delays between July 21st and July 25th.
The following roads will be receiving a MRT rejuvenator application, The first step of three pavement preservation treatments for the season.
Old Voluntown Road 07-21-25
West Shore Drive 07/21/25
Birch Drive 07-21-25
Town Hall Road 07-21-25
Sunderland Road 07-22-25
Hopkins Hill Road 07-22-25
Cobblestone Hill Road 07-24-25
Basketball court (Reynolds Field) 07-24-25
Mail Road (Liberty Church to Tripp’s Corner) 07-24-25
PAVING: School Land Woods Road 07-24 and 25
Widow Sweets Road 07-25-25
Clerk's Office parking area 07-25-25
FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS from flaggers in work zones will yield best results.
AVOID WORK ZONES, if possible, EXPECT LONG DELAYS
NO PARKING vehicles or any private property (example: basketball hoops, trailers, campers etc.…) on Town Roads will be allowed during this process.

Due to rain and extreme heat our road work has been delayed. New dates are as follows below. Thank you for your patience.

ATTENTION ROAD CLOSURES:

Monday April 28, 2025, 7am to 3pm paving will be performed on Pardon Joslin Road.

Tuesday April 29, 2025, 7am to 3pm paving will be performed on Raymond Potter Road.

Both projects are narrow dead-end roads, for best results we will pave full width from side to side at once. Exeter Public Works and its Contractor will close the road to non-emergency vehicles from 7am to 3pm please call 401-295-1983 with any questions or concerns.

Please check here for changes and rain dates as we move closer to these dates.

ATTENTION: Reynolds Field parking lot off South Road will be closed for the next couple weeks. A new parking entrance and parking lot is being constructed. Heavy construction equipment will be working is these areas, for safety concerns please refrain from coming to the area while this construction is underway.

Effective 6:00pm Saturday February 15, 2025, until 12:00pm Sunday February 16, 2025.
Please help our DPW Staff serve you better, there is no parking on town roads for this winter storm event.

Winter weather is here. 100% road access is critical for DPW to treat all roadways. Please keep our roads and road shoulders clear of any parked vehicles, basketball hoops and any other obstructions that may have the potential to damage your private property or town equipment. We thank you for your continued cooperation as we serve you.

ROAD WORK ALERT! #148 Mail Road area, Monday November 25, 2024, 7am-3pm. DPW will close Mail Road from Shannon Road to School Land Woods Road to replace a damaged portion of the road. Local traffic only will be allowed. All other traffic will be detoured onto School Lands Woods Road to Main Street out to South County Trail (route 2). All traffic that needs to enter Mail Road from South County Trail will be directed to Main Street onto School Land Woods out to Mail Road, RIGHT TURN ONLY. DPW has notified EWG School Bus Company of this closure.
