CITY OF EXETER SEEKING APPLICATIONS FOR DISTRICT A CITY COUNCIL SEAT
EXETER, CA – The City of Exeter is accepting applications from qualified residents interested in being considered for appointment to the City Council District A seat in lieu of election pursuant to California Elections Code Section 10229.
Following the close of the extended nomination period, District A is eligible for the appointment in-lieu of election process. The City Council has authorized the release of an application for interested District A residents. To be considered, applicants must be at least 18 years of age, be a registered voter, reside within City Council District A, and meet all qualifications to hold elective office under California law.
The application deadline is Monday, August 17, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. The City Council is scheduled to consider the appointment at a Special City Council Meeting on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
Applicants are also required to commit to electronically filing a Statement of Economic Interests (FPPC Form 700) through the City's eDisclosure system, by 4:00 p.m. on August 20, 2026, if selected by the Council for appointment. The appointment cannot be made unless the required Form 700 has been timely filed.
Completed applications may be submitted in person to the City Clerk's Office at 100 N. C St., Exeter, CA 93221, or by email to [email protected].
A District A map and application materials are available through the City’s website (https://cityofexeter.ca.gov/document/exeter-district-map/) or in person at the City Clerk’s Office. Residents who are unsure whether they reside within District A should contact the City Clerk's Office for assistance.
