4 Years ago today, Assistant Chief Michael Holmes was awarded the Pop Winters Valor Award for his heroic actions in rescuing an elderly woman from a house fire on October 29th, 2018. We are very proud and honored to continue to work with with Chief Holmes everyday.
Tonight, The West Whiteland Fire Company ran its 600th call for service for 2023. The company responded to an ALS crash at the intersection of N. Whitford and W. Lincoln Hwy.
Around 12:30AM The West Whiteland Fire Company was dispatched to Union Fire Company No. 1 ~ Oxford, PA to standby while they operated at a working apartment fire. Ladder 6 responded while Engine 6-1 responded to a fire alarm in our township. After clearing the fire alarm Engine 6-1 was also alerted to report to Oxford due to the assignment being upgraded to a 4th alarm. As crews arrived, they were asked to report to the scene. Both crews assisted with fire attack for several hours. Later, the crew from Engine 6-1 was sent to a fill site to assist filling tankers. Units and crews cleared at 8:45AM. The fire has displaced 80+ residents. The scene is still active at this time and has reached the 5th alarm.

At 10:21AM The West Whiteland Fire Company was dispatched to assist Minquas Fire Company No. 2 for an accident with entrapment on Quarry Rd. While in route, police confirmed heavy entrapment of one occupant. Crews worked simultaneously removing all doors, the roof, a dash roll, seat back removal and a steering column lift.
Units cleared and returned just before 12PM.

Last evening, The West Whiteland Fire Company was honored to be selected to be a part of BELFOR Property Restoration Rise for First Responders at the Philadelphia Eagles game. Five members were in attendance for the game on behalf of our station and involved in the opening ceremonies with Mr. Crowding from Belfor. It was an honor and great privilege to be selected for this event!
Engine 6-2 is just clearing a stand by at East Brandywine Fire Company(Station 49) for Chief Vince D’Amico and his crew while they operated at a working fire In East Fallowfield.
At 8:18PM last evening The West Whiteland Fire Company was alerted for a commercial building fire in Downingtown. A full company response was made and the fire was upgraded to 3 alarms. Engine 6-1 laid all of it’s 2000’ of supply line to the scene while ladder 6 set up its main to gain access to the upper floors of the tower. Engine 6-2 supplied Ladder 6 with a 300’ attack line and crews worked on supressing the fires on the upper floors. Units returned to West Whiteland just before 11PM.

After a long and great battle (1:40 second pull), The West Whiteland Fire Company fell to the Ludwigs Corner Fire Company in this years Goshen Fair tug of war. These two forces have been in the finals for the last 4 years! Congratulations to their crew for their victory. As always we are very proud of our team! We are already looking forward to next years fair!
Earlier today, The West Whiteland Fire Company was dispatched to a vehicle fire. Upon arrival crews found one vehicle well involved with fire impinging on the structure. The call was upgraded to a building fire while crews investigated. Crews extinguished the vehicle and the contents in one storage unit. The call was then held to West Whiteland.
Tonight, the company pulled in the tug-of-war at the Goshen Fair against The Fame Fire Co. No. 3. After a great battle Station 6 was victorious and will pull tomorrow night at 10pm. Another rematch in the battle of Route 100 against Ludwigs Corner Fire Company for the championship. Hope to see everyone there!
We cannot stress enough do not drive through flooded roadways! Heavy downpours caused flash flooding in the township.
The West Whiteland Fire Company was dispatched to 16 water rescues today and a total of 21 calls. Over 30 people were pulled from their vehicles. Happily there were no injuries to report.
A big thank you to Kennett Fire Company No. 1 and Lionville Fire Company for assisting with some of todays rescues. Also thank you to West Whiteland Township Police Department and Uwchlan Ambulance Corps for your tireless efforts in assisting us today.

At 7PM The West Whiteland Fire Company was dispatched to Southbound RT100 for a vehicle fire. Engine 6-1 arrived on scene to find one vehicle well involved with no injuries to the occupant. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and returned to station before 7:45.

As more rain saturated the township, The West Whiteland Fire Company was dispatched to more water emergencies this afternoon. With heavy downpours in the area flash flooding has been increasing. There is more rain in the forecast tomorrow so please use caution while driving.
Storms roll through Exton again! Today The West Whiteland Fire Company was dispatched to 7 emergencies during this afternoon’s storm. Including 3 water rescues freeing 4 occupants from their vehicles. Remember, do not drive on flooded roadways. The NWS estimated roughly 5.9 inches of rain fell in our area this afternoon causing flash flooding.

Since yesterday morning, The West Whiteland Fire Company has had 25 calls for service. Calls ranging from trees onto wires, trees struck by lightning and on fire, residential fire, trees into residences, carbon monoxide alarms, power lines on the roadways as well as several fire alarms. Crews also performed several water rescues using Utility 6 (High Water Vehicle). Over 20 members responded handling up to 4 calls at a time using every vehicle in our fleet.
Additionally we’d like to recognize The West Whiteland Township Police Department and Uwchlan Ambulance Corps for your assistance last evening during the storms.
As another busy evening continues, crews from The West Whiteland Fire Company have been dispatched five times today. Calls ranging from house fires, an entrapment accident, a fire alarm and two pole/wire calls, including this one on the 1300 block of Birchwood Drive.
Crews also had their monthly meeting and duty night at the station.
At 2:24pm, The West Whiteland Fire Company was dispatched to the area of Grubbs Mill Rd / Samuel Rd for an auto accident with entrapment. First arriving units had one vehicle overturned into a ditch with no entrapment. Units cleared a short time after.
At 3:34 PM, The West Whiteland Fire Company was dispatched to Creamery Way for an odor of gas inside. Crews entered the building with a strong smell of natural gas, however crews knew there was no gas service inside the building. After sweeping all four floors crews found a heavy sulfur odor in the trash room. It was discovered that a machine in the room, had 3 batteries which had over charged and leaked causing the smell. Crews cleared just before 4:30PM.
Additionally, at 5:38PM crews were alerted to assist East Brandywine Fire Company for a reported house fire. Units were recalled shortly after going enroute.
This evening, The West Whiteland Fire Company attended a joint training with The Lionville Fire Company at The Chester County Public Safety Training Campus. After a few evolutions, Engine 6-1 was alerted to cover The East Brandywine Fire Company while they operate at an working house fire.
The West Whiteland Fire Company was dispatched to the area of the Thomas Meeting club house for an vehicle fire. Visible fire was knocked by bystanders with an ABC extinguisher. However, due to a fire still in the dashboard Engine 6-2 pulled a hand line and qu**ky extingished the remaining fire with no injuries to the occupant. Units cleared in under 30 minutes.

While members were at drill this evening, Units were dispatched to their 7th response of the day to the Eastbound Route 30 Bypass MM282 for a reported vehicle fire. Crews found a small fire in the engine compartment. The fire was extinguished and crews returned to drill.

So far today, The West Whiteland Fire Company has been dispatched to five emergencies. Multiple fire alarms, one building fire, and this call for trees and wires down in the 1400 block of S. Whitford Rd.
Additionally, since Friday crews have remained busy being dispatched to five building fires.

Smoke from the wildfires in Canada are blanketing our area. The smoke conditions along with burning smell will continue and possibly worsen over the next several hours. We are in a code red advisory with a possibility of moving into a code purple.
Today, The West Whiteland Fire Company had the privilege to once again take part in the 151st Malvern Memorial Day Parade!
After Sunday’s softball game, The West Whiteland Fire Company and The Lionville Fire Company team up for a homeowner win!
At 6:44AM Station 6 was alerted to assist Lionville for a residential fire on Devyn Dr. A fast knock on the fire of the rear deck by crews from Lionville prevented the fire from entering the dwelling. Crews from West Whiteland and IAFF Local #4551 East Whiteland Twp Professional Firefighters removed the rest of the decking to extinguish any fire that remained. Crews cleared just after one hour.
Also, thank you Uwchlan Ambulance Corps for providing EMS services during this incident.
Today, The West Whiteland Fire Company and Lionville Fire Company gathered to play their annual softball game. Lionville took last years game, however West Whiteland turned the tables this year and took home the win! More importantly teams had fun and enjoyed our freedoms this Memorial Day weekend. Thank you to everyone past and present to serve our great country.
Early this morning, at 2:04AM The West Whiteland Fire Company was dispatched to assist East Brandywine Fire Company for a working house fire. Engine, Ladder, and Chief 6 made the response. Crews assisted with fire attack and overhaul and cleared at 4AM.
At 10:24 Station 6 was dispatched to assist Minquas Fire Company No. 2 with a apartment fire. While en-route, Station 46 found a small fire on the stove and held the response to Downingtown.
At 11:15 AM The company was dispatched to Waterloo Blvd and N. Whitford for an accident with entrapment. Rescue 6 had no entrapment and crews then assisted with patient care, hazard and traffic control. Thank you West Whiteland Township Police Department and Uwchlan Ambulance Corps for you assistance.

This afternoon at 2:42PM The West Whiteland Fire Company was dispatched to the 1300 block of Carver Way for a residential fire. Crews found a outside fire had spread up the siding and into the attic space above the garage. Due to high heat in the space, crews opened the space above the garage to check for extension. The fire was placed under control after 25 minutes. Station 6 cleared the scene just before 4PM.
