The Importance of Tradition
This year, for Thanksgiving, we asked our team to share their food stories with us as we prepare to break bread with family and friends and give thanks for all of our many blessings.
CCFB CEO, Andrea Youndt, reflects on how our food stories connect us through shared experiences as well as the importance of traditions for fostering a sense of belonging and community.
What tradition do you share with your friends and family? Let us know in the comments!
🦃🧡 On behalf of every member of our Food Bank community, we wish you a Happy Thanksgiving filled with gratitude and happiness! 🧡🦃
We invited our team members to share their food stories as a way of acknowledging the diverse tapestry of experiences that we each bring to the table.
First Thanksgiving at CCFB
We asked our team to share their most memorable Thanksgiving moments at the Chester County Food Bank. Carey Snow, Director of Culinary Operations, fondly recounts the first time the Food Bank did an elevated prepackaged Thanksgiving meal.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors
We saw an outpouring of support today from our incredible neighbors collecting over 5,000 pounds of food for those in need in our community. Donated food is vital to helping us provide food to neighbors struggling with food insecurity.
Join us tomorrow for our Drive-Thru Food Drive from 9-11:30 am and help us feed our neighbors this holiday season! https://chestercountyfoodbank.org/ways-to-give/donate-food/

🏇🌟 Thank You, Pennsylvania Hunt Cup Races!🌟🏇
As we celebrate the 89th running of the PA Hunt Cup, we reflect on the legacy of generosity that has been built over nearly a century. We couldn't do what we do without the support of amazing partners like you.
To the organizers, participants, sponsors, and all who have played a part in this incredible event, thank you for your enduring commitment to our mission. Since its inception in 2009, the Chester County Food Bank has been the beneficiary of this premier timber steeplechase event.
Mark your calendars for 2024, the first Sunday in November, and be a part of the PA Hunt Cup tradition. https://pahuntcup.org/
The rockstar 🌟 volunteers from Nemours brought a whole lot of energy and kindness to our warehouse as part of their Nemours Cares Week!

It’s that glorious time of summer when hours of sunshine during the day and a good soaking from evening thunderstorms make for happy plants, as evidenced by the backyard and community gardens positively exploding with fresh fruits and veggies. You can see the tomato and squash plants growing in leaps and bounds before your very eyes!
If your garden is growing zucchini faster than you can eat it, consider donating some to CCFB or the food cupboard closest to you. But please harvest the zucchini when small - about 6 inches. When squash gets too big, the flavor and texture suffer, and the seeds can become tough and inedible. Although zucchini bread is the go-to recipe for overgrown zukes, this wonderful produce won’t go as far to provide nutrition to families in need as when it can be sautéed, grilled, or otherwise cooked into a healthful meal.
Happy Harvesting!
🥕Food donations can be brought to CCFB ~ Monday - Friday: 8am - 5pm. However, with fresh produce, it's ideal if we can receive it by Thursday since we are not open over the weekend.

Donate to our virtual food drive https://chestercountyfoodbank.fenly.org/drive/ccfb-virtual-food-drive/ or register to host your own virtual drive. This is a great option for groups/offices/clubs - especially for those working remotely. Virtual drives are the most efficient way to give as we can use our buying power to purchase the most needed items.
