Fair Harbor Fire Department Established in 1931, the FHFD is responsible for providing fire and EMS protection to Fair Harbor, Dunewood and Lonelyville.

On Saturday November 1st, the Suffolk Regional EMS Council (REMSCO) held its annual CPR Life Saving Awards ceremony, honoring EMS providers for providing life-saving CPR to patients who are discharged from the hospital neurologically intact.

At this year's ceremony, the following members of the Fair Harbor Fire Department were honored for their successful CPR save in August 2025:

- EMS Lieutenant Meagan Leppicello (pictured)
- Gavin Miller (pictured)
- Aaron Thornberg
- Ex-Chief Jesse Ostrow
- EMS Captain Jacob Henner
- Savannah Haushalter
- Paul Falotico
- 3rd Asst. Chief David Mann

In addition, the following members of partner agencies were also recognized:

- Maximo Sierra (SVFC)

🌊⛈️SERVICE UPDATE
Due to the Nor'easter bringing in sustained high winds and strong tides, ferry service for all beaches on Sunday, 10/12, after the 1pm series of trips has been suspended.

All ferry service for Monday, 10/13, has been suspended, and freight service will not operate on Monday, 10/13.

In addition, lateral and crossbay service for Fire Island Water Taxi will not run on Sunday or Monday.

All ferry and freight operations are expected to resume on Tuesday, weather permitting.

Please expect flooding conditions in and around the terminal due to the tides and weather conditions.

The last ferry trips returning from Fire Island on Sunday, 10/12, will be:

Kismet: 1:30pm
Saltaire: 1:40pm
Fair Harbor: 1:30pm
Dunewood: 1:40pm
Ocean Beach: 1:50pm
Seaview: 1:40pm
Ocean Bay Park: 1:30pm

On Friday night FHFD firefighters were hard at work at the Suffolk County Fire Academy, participating in a vehicle fires training exercise. Vehicle fires are relatively uncommon on Fire Island due to driving restrictions, but when they do occur it's important that our firefighters are prepared.
