Fair Haven Free Library

Fair Haven Free Library Stop in and visit us today!!! The Fair Haven Free Library was established in 1866 and was first located upstairs over the First National Bank on Main Street.

We provide: over 18,000 titles for all ages and interests, public access computers, Wi-Fi access, DVD's, Audiobooks, and interlibrary loan services available upon request. Andrew Carnegie offered the town $8,000 in 1904 to build a new library building, and a lot was chosen on East Park Place. Ground was broken on May 21, 1906 and the new library was opened on March 18, 1908. The Fair Haven Free

Library is included in the Fair Haven Green Historic District. In 1997 an 1,100 square foot one-story addition was constructed at the rear of the original building. The addition provides the library with a new main entrance with stairs and a bandicap lift which allow access to the main level and the basement. This addition provided a new children's area and circulation department on the main floor, as well as a barrier-free rest room at the basement level. Phase Two of the addition project ended in 2003 with the completion of a basement meeting room. On March 18, 2008 the meeting room was dedicated in memeory of Bill and Lucille Hyde. This large open room has provided the Library with an area for children's activities and meeting space. Mission Statement:
To provide friendly and safe access to materials, programs, and reference services in order to stimulate and promote personal enrichment, enhance self-esteem and enlightenment of our citizens through the diversity of our collections while keeping the personal dignity and integrity of each patron in mind.

Andrew’s first class tonight was very informative. We talked about how one approaches writing and the benefits and drawbacks of each method. We discussed point of view of the story and a good opener. Our homework is to write three story openers.

My mind is still reeling from all the information. I’m excited to hear each participants work next session. If you feel drawn to attend, please do. There’s still some room.

Thanks Andrew for sharing your knowledge in such a fun way so far!

The workshop begins on Monday!!! Call to reserve your seat. 802-265-8011
