PUBLIC NOTICE: Draft Revision to Chapter 96 — Noise

The Village of Fair Haven has released a draft revision to Chapter 96 of the Village Code, entitled “Noise,” for public review (see link below).

The proposed revision expands and replaces the existing chapter in response to feedback received by the Village and to provide clearer, more consistent, and enforceable standards addressing unreasonable noise, consistent with approaches used by municipalities. The revised chapter is intended to promote compatibility among the residential, commercial, recreational, seasonal, and waterfront activities that make up the Village while establishing clear and consistent standards for addressing unreasonable noise.

The Village Board welcomes feedback from the community. We want to hear from those who support the proposed changes as well as those who have constructive concerns, questions, or suggestions for improvement.

A public meeting will be held to review the draft and receive community feedback. The date of the public meeting has not yet been scheduled and will be determined at the next Board of Trustees meeting. Notice will be given once this public meeting is scheduled.

Feedback may also be submitted by email to [email protected]. All feedback will be considered by the Village Board as it determines whether further revisions are needed.

NOTICE: Public Workshop – Proposed Noise Ordinance Update

The Village of Fair Haven Planning Board will hold a workshop to discuss the Village's Noise Ordinance (Chapter 96) and gather community input on potential updates.

This workshop is intended as an informal listening session to hear ideas, identify concerns, and explore potential solutions before any recommendations are made to the Village Board of Trustees.

Residents, business owners, property owners, and other interested parties are encouraged to attend and participate in the discussion.

Date: Tuesday August 18th
Time: 4:30-6:00pm
Location: Village Fire Hall

No formal action will be taken at this workshop.

The Village of Fair Haven will begin accepting Short-Term Rental applications at the Village Office on Monday, June 22 at 9:00 AM. At that time, applicants may submit a completed application, the required self-checklist, and payment of the application and inspection fees to the Village Clerk.
Following submission, the Code Enforcement Officer will contact applicants to schedule an inspection.
