Congratulations to Memorial Middle School 7th grader Shirelle Parker on being selected to participate in Bergen County’s “Chief for a Day” program!

Chief Shirelle spent the day enjoying a variety of exciting experiences and visiting several locations throughout Bergen County. The day concluded at the Bergen County Courthouse, where she joined fellow “Chiefs” from across the county for an afternoon filled with fun, friendship, and unforgettable memories.

The Chief for a Day program provides children with a unique opportunity to step into the role of a law enforcement leader and experience the support and appreciation of their local communities. We are proud of Shirelle and honored that she represented Memorial Middle School during this special event.

Congratulations, Shirelle! We hope you had an amazing day and created memories that will last a lifetime.

Last evening, more than seven vehicles were entered in the area of Broadway. Numerous personal items, including purses, wallets, and other valuables, were stolen.

While we are fortunate to live in a safe community, opportunistic criminals do pass through our neighborhoods. Please don’t become a victim of crime.

We urge all residents to lock their vehicle doors and never leave valuables, wallets, purses, fi****ms, or personal information inside unattended vehicles.

A few seconds of prevention can help avoid a costly loss. Please Share…

Today we wish Officer Ferreira, Officer Urgiles, and Officer Adam Collura — nephew of our fallen hero, Officer Mary Ann Collura #136 — safe travels as they embark on the Unity Tour ride to Washington, D.C.

This ride honors the memory of fallen officers and the sacrifices they and their families have made. We are proud to see them representing the Fair Lawn Police Department and carrying Officer Collura’s legacy with them every mile of the journey.

Ride safe and we’ll be cheering you on all the way to D.C.

This National Nurses Week, the Fair Lawn Police Department would like to thank all the amazing nurses out there.

You deal with unimaginable situations, long hours, questionable handwriting, and patients who definitely Googled their symptoms before coming in. Somehow, you still show up every day with compassion and professionalism.

We may handle emergencies, but nurses are the real pros 😉🫶🏽

Thank you for everything you do — and for surviving on large amounts of caffeine, determination, and about 3 hours of sleep. Happy Nurses Week!
