Today, we remember Captain Dillon Rinaldo.

Dillon proudly served with the Fair Lawn Rescue Squad and Fire Department before landing his dream job with the Baltimore City Fire Department. Three years ago, Dillon made the ultimate sacrifice while fighting a rowhouse fire in Baltimore.

Dillon was an incredible firefighter, but an even better son, brother, fiancé, and friend. Being a firefighter wasn’t just his job — it was his passion. He took tremendous pride in what he did, and he was truly great at it.

Although Dillon is no longer physically with us, his impact continues to be felt every single day. His memory lives on through the beautiful mural at our high school football field, the fire training center dedicated in his honor, and the countless lives he touched throughout his life and career.

The Captain Dillon Rinaldo Foundation, created by his closest friends, continues to do incredible work honoring Dillon’s memory and carrying on his legacy by supporting our brother and sister firefighters every day. What a beautiful way to ensure that Dillon’s spirit and passion for helping others continue to make a difference.

Today, and every day, please keep Dillon, his family, his friends, and all our brother and sister firefighters in your thoughts and prayers.

We truly lost a great man three years ago today, but the legacy he left behind will never be forgotten.

Dillon, you are missed. You are loved. And you will forever be a hero. Continue to watch over us. Rest easy, Captain. Until we meet again.

This morning, Rescue was dispatched to McBride Avenue for two individuals who were stranded on the roof of their vehicle after it became surrounded by floodwaters.

A crew from Rescue entered the floodwaters with a boat and safely reached both individuals, removing them from the roof and bringing them to dry land.

Thankfully, both individuals were brought to safety unharmed

Yesterday, members of Rescue attended three separate September 11th remembrance ceremonies throughout the day.

In the morning, members attended a very meaningful ceremony at the Fair Lawn Senior Center, hosted by their dedicated staff.

In the afternoon, members attended Fisher Scientific’s first-ever September 11th remembrance service, honoring and remembering those who lost their lives.

We ended the day at the Borough of Fair Lawn’s September 11th ceremony, where our community came together to remember the three Fair Lawn residents we lost 25 years ago.

We will always remember. 🇺🇸

Today we remember.
Twenty-five years later, the loss remains profound—the 343 firefighters, the police officers, the EMTs, and the thousands of civilians who never came home. Their absence still shapes the lives of the families, the departments, and the communities left behind.
Respect to the members of Fair Lawn Rescue Squad and Fire Co. 2 who answered the call that day and went into Manhattan. That decision, and the service that followed, deserves to be remembered with gratitude.

This morning, Fair Lawn Rescue responded to Grunauer Place for a 2nd alarm attic fire. Rescue stood by as the RIT team, and remained ready to assist crews operating at the scene. 📸 Boyd A. Loving Sebs Sightings

At 10:45 this morning, Rescue 2 was dispatched to the area of Route 208 South and Virginia Drive for a reported overturned vehicle with entrapment.

Fortunately, all occupants were able to self-extricate prior to the arrival of Rescue 2. Our members assisted at the scene before returning to service.

The Borough of Fair Lawn has approved the purchase of a new Rescue 2 (892), which is currently being built by PL Custom Emergency Vehicles in Manasquan, New Jersey.

The Rescue 2 truck committee has received and reviewed the preliminary drawings for the new apparatus. Construction is moving forward, with the cab and chassis now on the production line and ready for assembly.

The new Rescue 2 is expected to be completed and delivered in early 2028
