Fair Lawn Rescue Squad

Fair Lawn Rescue Squad Rescue is a volunteer organization dedicated to serving the borough of Fair Lawn and surrounding communities. Welcome to the Fair Lawn Rescue Squad’s website.

The squad’s mission statement says that we are “a volunteer organization created for the purpose of preserving life and property through the provision of emergency and non-emergency rescue service in the Borough of Fair Lawn.” The Rescue Squad is a division of the Fair Lawn Office of Emergency Management (OEM), which is a municipal office of the Borough of Fair Lawn. This website has been develope

d to educate you about the services that we provide, articles of both past and present events, and provide informative information about the Rescue Squad. The Rescue Squad operates out of one building that is owned and maintained by the Rescue Squad Association. Each year our fund drive committee distributes two mailings seeking donations. The donations are used to maintain our building, complete projects, support our youth squad, provide financial assistance to a graduating senior through our scholarship program, and to maintain the day to day operations of the rescue squad.

This morning, members of Rescue marched in Fair Lawn’s Memorial Day parade. Each year, Rescue proudly honors the fallen men and women of our armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. We remember and pay tribute to the 47 Fair Lawn residents who gave their lives so that we may continue to live free. Thank you to all who have served and sacrificed for our nation. Fair Lawn residents,

Over the past few days—and in the coming days—you may receive our annual fund drive letter in the mail. On the mailer, you’ll notice a QR code for donations. Please be aware that this QR code may not work properly at this time.

If you experience any issues, you can still support us by sending a check by mail as outlined in the letter. We are working to resolve the QR code issue as quickly as possible.

We sincerely thank all of our residents and local businesses for your continued support—it truly makes a difference.

This past Sunday, Engineer Joel Fife and Member Chris Lyons led a hands-on drill with our junior and probationary members. The training covered the fundamentals of a basic vehicle extrication — from disconnecting the battery, to stabilizing the vehicle, and safely removing the doors and roof.

Our junior and probationary members are fortunate to learn from dedicated officers and members like Joel and Chris, who consistently give their time before our Tuesday night drills and on weekends to provide additional training. Their commitment plays a huge role in shaping the next generation of skilled members — and potentially future squad officers.

Are you a Fair Lawn resident between 16–17 years old interested in joining our Junior Program? Stop by the rescue building any Tuesday night and speak with an officer. It’s a great stepping stone to becoming a regular member at 18 — where you’ll gain valuable skills, meet new people, and give back to your community.

Early on Tuesday evenings before our regular weekly drill, some of our Senior members and some of our squad officers spend time training with our probationary and junior members.

This past Tuesday they worked on vehicle stabilization using our Res-Q-Jacks and step chocks. Great hands-on training to help build the skills and confidence of our newer members.
