Yesterday, The VFW Department and VFW District 17 closed VFW Post 6158 for the time being. American Legion Post 383 has temporarily lost its meeting place. I am acting on behalf of Commander Lee Payne in dealing with the situation. I will keep the membership up to date as things change. Here is where we stand:
* The VFW will be honoring all current contracts for scheduled events at the Post... This includes two that AL Post 383 has currently scheduled.
* The Bunco event scheduled by the Auxiliary is still going to happen from 1:00-3:00 PM. Besides the game, there will be food. lemonade and water. The cost is $20.00 (Tickets available at the door) (The only difference is that the bar will be closed as they cannot sell liquor while on suspension.). Please come and support the Auxiliary.
*Our main fundraiser this year is our first annual BBQ~N~Boots Dinner and Dance (Country Style). At this time, we're moving forward and are seeking a way to provide proper refreshments along with the meal and dance. There will be opportunity prizes and our Special Guest will be Department Commander Jere Romano. He's one of the best we've seen for awhile and this will be a chance to meet him. A flier with updated information will be available by mid week and I will send it out to you.
*The VFW will be having a special meeting on March 14th at 7:00 PM to elect new officers at the Post. It will be conducted by the District. If you're a VFW member of this Post, please come and support the Post. Folks, this one is important!!!
Working together, we can make a better Post and do a lot of good work!!!
