The Chena Tool Library is a proud member project of the North Star Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Empowering our community by eliminating barriers to tools, knowledge, and support. Fairbanks is filled with resourceful and determined people that have projects from homebuilding, to car repair, to food preservation. But not everyone has the money, space, or desire to own al

l the tools needed to complete those projects. We are committed to providing access to tools to our community. And we hope to be a place to exchange ideas, learn, and support our fellow Fairbanksans in their do-it-yourself endeavors. We are an organization of committed do-it-yourself enthusiasts. We want to help you succeed with your projects by providing you with quality tools and know-how. Interested in borrowing tools? It's easy to become a member. Annual membership is donation based (we suggest $1 for every $1000) of family income. We strive to be welcoming and available to everyone regardless of income. We are looking for a volunteer or two to help staff the Library this Saturday from 11 am - 3 pm. Come for all or part of the time, meet other CTL members, and help us keep up with the workload!

Join us next Saturday, September 5 for a 5K fun run/walk at 5 PM at Tanana Lakes!

The fundraiser will support the North Star Community Foundation's (NSCF) Fairbanks Warming Center Project and member projects of your choice (the CTL is one of many great projects that are supported by NSCF's fiscal sponsorship).

It will be a great opportunity to learn about other NSCF member projects and support the great work non-profits provide to the Fairbanks Community!

Looking for a meaningful role where you can truly make a job your own? The Chena Tool Library is looking for a versatile, community-minded individual to join our team!

📌 The Details:

Hours: ~20 hours/week (Saturdays required; remaining hours are highly flexible!)

Pay: $18–$20/hour (depending on experience) + PTO

🌟 Make This Role Your Own:
Besides standard library operations and member check-ins, we want to tailor your role around your unique strengths! Are you great at tool repair, social media, grant writing, or community outreach? Tell us what you bring to the table!

✅ Requirements:

Saturday availability

Comfortable with standard tech (Google Workspace) or eager to learn

Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs & climb ladders
