Did you hear that our annual Tool Swap is 👉 THIS SATURDAY 👈 at Pioneer Park!? As always, you have options! In classic “swap” style, you can drop off items you’d like to sell either Friday night between 5 - 7 PM (yep - that’s new this year) or Saturday morning between 8 - 11 AM (just check the ⬆️ slides for info on drive up vs. walk up).

You don’t have to bring a tool to buy a tool. The market portion of the event is open to EVERYONE from 12 - 2 PM!

Hey everyone! We are looking forward to our biggest event of the year, the 2026 Tool Swap on Saturday, May 23 at Alaskaland/Pioneer Park Centennial Center.

We can really use some more volunteers to help make this event a smashing success, so if you can help please send us an email at [email protected].

We need tool evaluators, display wizards, greeters, and cashiers and data entry help- there’s something for everyone! Thanks!

We need PAINT and LUMBER donations!!!

The Chena Tool Library is moving to a new location in the old Alaska Tent and Tarp building by Lat 65 (more on that in a later post).

We need white paint for the walls and 8 ft 2x4s, 2x3s, or 1x3s and plywood/OSB for new shelves. I know everyone has a half gallon or more of paint and some boards laying around, so please help us out of you can spare. Please drop off your donations during open hours in the next week or 2 and we will see if we can get enough for our needs.

We could also use some peg board and a new desk, but that can wait, too.

Thanks so much. You all are the best. We are really looking forward to this new space.

Want to know how to sell tools at the Tool Swap? It's easy!
If you have 15 items or less, fill out our seller form, drop them off, and we'll help you tag your tools.

More than 15 items? Get a table! Just fill out the first page of the seller form and sell your tools during the swap. This allows you to talk directly with customers to get the best deal. Table sellers only need to track their total sales to each person (on sales slips provided by the CTL).

The CTL will handle all customer payments so you don't have to. 20% of sales go to the CTL to support Fairbanks' only tool lending library.

Drive up tool drop off this year is available Friday, May 22 (5 - 7 pm) and Saturday, May 23 (8 - 10 am). Due to the swap happening on the opening day of Pioneer Park, sellers will not be able to drive up and drop off tools after 10 am. But we'll have carts, wheelbarrows, and hand trucks available for anyone needing to walk tools in after 10 am.

Dealing with foamboard insulation can be messy and difficult. Make it easy with a brand new hot knife from the Chena Tool Library
