Fairbanks, what is your number one concern - as it relates to diversity?

Mayor Eberhart attended the Housing First Annual Christmas Party, along with Fairbanks Police Chief Aragon. Shirley Lee is the Director of the Tanana Chiefs Conference Housing First program, which is a supportive housing program for homeless chronic inebriates. The tenants receive support services that help them address barriers to a healthier lifestyle.
We should all remember to help and visit persons having challenges in their lives, not only at Christmas, but every day of the year!

How does incarceration affect diversity? The state legislature is not going to make effective changes in their efforts to reform the criminal justice process if people do not speak up. Get in the know- realize exactly who these policies effect and what they mean to you. Start calling your legislator now.

Mayor Eberhart spoke today at the Naturalization Ceremony for 24 persons who gained their United States citizenship. Mayor Eberhart spoke about his own family coming to America and about his spouse, Sylvia, who was born in the Netherlands and raised in Australia. The Mayor encouraged our newest citizens to vote and participate in our goverment. Part of that participation, he noted, could be through their suggestions or engagement with several committees that represent our community. Each new citizen was given a City of Fairbanks lapel pin and the Mayor's business card.

Congratulations to our Diversity Council Member! June is an amazing asset and a truly wonderful individual!
