The Chena River is one of Interior Alaska's most accessible and beloved waterways and the Nordale Road Wayside is your launch point for exploring it.

Located about 10 miles east of Fairbanks, this is the only improved launch ramp in a 31-mile stretch of river, making it a key access point for motorized boaters and anglers alike. The river is home to Arctic grayling, northern pike, burbot, and whitefish with plenty of open water to explore in between.

Through ADF&G's Boating and Angler Access Program, the site was reconfigured and improved to make launching safer, easier, and more organized. Improvements included:

⚫️Reconfigured parking area pulled back from the eroding riverbank

⚫19 vehicle/trailer combination parking spaces, 10 more than before

⚫19 single vehicle parking spaces plus one ADA-accessible van parking space

⚫New paved surface, painted lines, and updated signage

The facility is operated and maintained by ADF&G and DOT M&O.

What brings you out to the Chena? Drop it in the comments.
