Alexandre Frota Visits our Chapter

On Tuesday, July 14, our EAA Chapter was able to welcome Alexandre Frota as he paused in Fairbanks on his flight around the world. Alex is a Brazilian pilot who has almost completed his circumnavigation of the globe as a solo pilot in his experimental RV-10. On very short notice we were able to pull together a barbecue at our chapter hangar, and Alex entertained us all with details of his adventure embellished with amusing anecdotes. It was a great evening! Thank you, Alex! Safe travels as you complete your adventure at Oshkosh AirVenture. Thank you, Karen, for the great photos!

Our next meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, July 2 at our hangar (3800 Tibor). VMC club will meet at 6:00, with social hour/dinner starting at 6:30, and the meeting should begin around 7. Our menu for this meeting brings up a favorite question. How DO you pronounce “gyro”? Is it YEE-roh, or is it JYE-roh or maybe YEH-roh? Come to the meeting and share your favorite pronunciation as well as enjoying the food no matter how it’s pronounced!

TJ and James are both contributing to the presentation for the evening. TJ will be sharing a money saving 3D printing-like project. James is planning a demonstration of home-made CNC equipment. Bring sun glasses or light welding goggles if you have them.

CallAir Project Update

Good progress is being made on our CallAir project. With the new fabric and filler coats completed on the fuselage, much time was spent prepping for final paint, and it is finally done! And it is definitely very red. Steve, Larry, Bill and the rest of the crew have put a lot of time in on this project and would certainly appreciate folks stopping by to admire the results.

The CallAir work group meets every Monday from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Chapter hangar located at 3800 Tibor. All members are welcome to come and be part of the fun. And if you are not an EAA member, come anyway and we will be happy to sign you up for a FREE 6-month trial membership!
