National Donut Day is almost here! This Friday, June 5, we celebrate a tradition that began with The Salvation Army’s "Donut Lassies," who served fresh donuts and encouragement to American troops on the frontlines during World War I.
Nearly 90 years later, National Donut Day continues as a way to honor veterans and first responders whose service strengthens our communities every day.

This Sunday we will be recognizing some amazing kids who have been faithfully coming to Troops! We have games, crafts, songs, and a puppet show lined up for our service.

Child-style worship reminds us all to come back to a childlike faith and joy in the Lord. Bring balloons to help celebrate these wonderful kids, and join us in praying for a safe and blessed summer break and all the new adventures ahead in the next school year!

Today we had a lament service. So many times we forget God. Let us return to Him by keeping His commandments, reading His Word, and never forgetting His sacrifice. As we remember Christ’s sacrifice, may we also honor those who served in the military, those who gave their lives, and those who were held captive or remain missing. May we never forget their courage, sacrifice, and the families who continue to carry their memory.

The mission has not changed.

The Salvation Army started in 1865 in London, when William and Catherine Booth refused to choose between preaching the Gospel and feeding the hungry. They wouldn't pick one. They wouldn't separate them. They believed faith and service were one thing, and they built a movement around that conviction.

The work crossed the Atlantic in 1880. It's been in this country ever since.

A lot has changed in 160 years. The buildings look different. The technology is different. The neighborhoods are different. The needs are different.

The mission hasn't budged.

Faith and service. One thing. Always.
