It was a warm day in Nome yesterday! The temperature climbed to 72°F on June 3rd, breaking the previous daily record high of 70°F that had stood since 1993. On average, Nome typically sees its first 70°F day on June 20th and doesn't see its first 72°F temperature until three days later, on June 23rd. Last year, Nome didn't see its first 70°F temperature until June 20th, when temperatures climbed to 71°F. Nome typically sees 5 days reach at or above 70°F annually, with 1977 seeing the most with 19 70°F+ days. Unfortunately, these warm temperatures aren't expected to last long. Colder air builds in from the north this weekend, bringing more moderate temperatures to the region and across the state. Enjoy the warm weather while it lasts!
