Congratulations to Barnette Magnet School 🏫 for 20 years of educational success in the heart of the City of Fairbanks. When schools have faced drastic cuts that have eliminated programs like music and increased class sizes, Barnette has found a way to provide innovative and interactive education from kindergarten to 8th grade.

A big Congratulations 🎊 to Principal Genevieve Chacho on her first year leading the school and all the educators who show up every day for kids in our community. Enjoy your summer! 🌸

Parents and Families, thank you for showing up in this wild season we lovingly call Maycember. 🌸
To help coordinate the chaos, here are the upcoming events and every sign-up link you might need!

🎉Soda Spray - THIS Friday at 2:20 PM
Students who raised $200 or more in the Read-a-Thon will celebrate by spraying teachers with soda during this fun reward event.

🎉Field Day - Thursday, May 21st
K-3rd Grade: 9:00-11:00 AM
4th-7th Grade: 12:00-2:00 PM
Students will rotate through a variety of field stations led by military volunteers. Parents are welcome to come enjoy the event, cheer students on, or participate alongside them.

🎉Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon - Thursday, May 21st
11:00 AM-1:00 PM in the café (same day as field day)
Barnette staff will host a drop-in luncheon to thank all volunteers who have supported our school throughout the year.

🎉Barnette 20th Year Celebration & Community BBQ
Last Day of School - Wednesday, May 27th at 10:00 AM
The celebration will begin with an assembly in the gym, followed by an Arbor Day tree planting and a community BBQ/playground celebration. The PTA will provide hot dogs, and families are encouraged to bring sides. Special guests invited include the Mayor, FNSBSD School Board members, and important people from Barnette’s history. All Barnette families are invited to attend and wear their Barnette SWAG!
