Fairbanks 9th Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol Fairbanks Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol. The furthest north CAP Squadron! Stop by during one of our meetings! Cadets have to be 12 years old to sign up.

Seniors meet Monday nights 6:30-8:30pm with our monthly membership meeting the third Monday of the month. Cadets meet every Thursday evening 6:30-8:30pm.

Last Thursday the cadets did some miscellaneous classes and work around the hangar. After opening formation, C/Capt Andrew Smoot led group discussions on encampment, and C/CMSgt Paul Smoot taught about customs and courtesies. After that, the cadets worked on cleaning the hangar. During the meeting, C/SMSgt Shelby Rider worked with the color guard on practice. At the end of the meeting, C/MSgt Shelby Rider was promoted to C/SMSgt, C/TSgt Christian Yew was promoted to C/MSgt, and C/SSgt Tobias Grossglauser was promoted to C/TSgt.

This Thursday was the ninth and final week of the Great Start Program. After opening formation, C/SMSgt Caleb Long instructed the cadets on the expectations cadets are expected to comply with, C/CMSgt Johnny Burley taught a class on cadet progression, and C/Capt Smoot gave the cadets feedback on their performance. C/CMSgt Johnny Burley taught about encampment and C/SMSgt Caleb Long led drill tests. The cadets also did a team leadership project.

April 25th was the eighth week of the Great Start Program. After opening formation, C/Capt Andrew Smoot led written tests for C/Amn, C/A1c, C/SrA, and C/SSgt. During that activity, C/CMSgt John Burley led the cadets in drill. After that, C/CMSgt Timothy Dote taught a class on goal setting, and C/Maj Thomas Weisensel taught about performing a preflight inspection on a Cessna 206.

This Thursday was the sixth week of the Great Start Program. After opening formation, the cadets C/Capt Andrew Smoot taught about character traits. After that, they split into two groups, with one learning shoe shining taught by C/SSgt Edward Arnold, and the other learning drill taught by C/SMSgt Caleb Long. Following that, Chaplain Grossglauser taught character, and then the cadets wrapped the night up learning about uniform items taught by C/SMSgt Shelby Rider and C/SrA Lucas Dote.

After opening formation, the cadets split into two groups, one attending a class taught by C/MSgt Shelby Rider and C/A1c Emma Foreman on ranks. The other group were taught drill by C/SMSgt Caleb Long and C/SSgt Tobias Grossglauser. After that, they were taught compass use by C/CMSgt Paul Smoot, C/CMSgt Timothy Dote, C/SMSgt Caleb Long, and C/SSgt Edward Arnold.

On March 26, C/Maj Thomas Weisensel, C/CMSgt Timothy Dote, C/MSgt Shelby Rider, and C/SrA Lucas Dote, as well as some senior members, presented at Monroe High School for ICS. The presentation was on paper bottle rockets. The cadets walked the students through building the rockets quickly, then they went outside and launched them.
