UAF Dept of Psychology, Psi Chi Honor Society Chapter Psi Chi was the first student organization formally affiliated with APA & is largest student psychology org that encourages excellence in the field.

Psi Chi was founded September 4, 1929, during the 9th International Congress of Psychology. Representatives from 11 colleges and universities signed the charter, and three others signed by proxy. Psi Chi was the first student organization formally affiliated with APA (American Psychology Association) and is the largest student psychological organization with over 600,000 members and has internatio

nal chapters from Canada to New Zealand. Historical figures include B.F. Skinner, Florence L. Denmark, and Albert Bandura, among many others, as distinguished members. The organization publishes the Psi Chi Journal of Psychological Research and offers over $350,000 in grants and awards annually. There are participates in six regional and two national conventions each year.
