Global Resource Opportunities

Global Resource Opportunities Linking resources with needs worldwide. I begin to reason why not connect the resource with the need. They house 10 orphans and provide tuition for school.

History of GRO
Founder Cheryll Young writes: “When I was with YWAM visiting missionaries my husband and I noticed that not all of them were well connected to resources, both financial and practical. I was bothered by the fact that often their lack of resources could be met with things that we in the US toss in the trash or replace when it was a year old. Originally, I supplied food, clothes and me

dical supplies-whatever, but eventually this wasn't practical as I was the sole worker.”
GRO was created in 2007 to extend the reach of the founder and match resources with need. GRO was incorporated as an Alaskan non-profit and gained IRS 501 C 3 status in July 2008. 2015 Goals
• Establish GRO Alaska headquarters in Fairbanks for resource acquisition and distribution.

• Crisis Care International trainer Cheryll Young (GRO Founder) for her travel to Alaska to train youth workers.

• Streams of Joy Ministry in Tanaku, India led by Vimal and Hannah. They are looking for a permanent location to purchase. They also have a vision to rescue more children and provide food for children living in the garbage dump.

General information

With the development of a ministry base in Alaska the reach of GRO could be extended. It is the vision of the staff to begin a ministry center in Fairbanks, Alaska to begin to accumulate assets that can be shared with those feeding, clothing and providing medical care to those in extreme poverty around the world. We envision this looking like a local thrift shop, with profit from sales allowing us to ship globally sending goods and financial aid to those featured projects. The Next Step We must increase the foundation of GRO. Currently; Cheryll and the Board of Directors reside in California. Adding Alaskan Linda Setterberg as the Executive Director means that we will use the internet to connect for Board meetings and we hope to double the size of the Board with Alaskans who can bring local and global perspective to our leadership. Training During this period of transition we will focus on training our volunteers, both Board and staff. First of all, with those working with at risk youth and families in hard places; and second, in project development that is specific to a verified need and locally sustainable.
