Interested in becoming a homeowner? Let us introduce you to the Fulton County Homeownership Program (HOP)! 🏡

The Homeownership Program (HOP) helps eligible first-time homebuyers achieve their dream of homeownership by offering a deferred loan with 0% interest and no monthly payments.

If rising housing costs or a down payment have been standing in your way, this program may be able to help. HOP also offers opportunities for loan forgiveness for qualifying participants.

You may qualify if:
✅ You're a qualified first-time homebuyer (or haven't owned a home in the past 3 years)
✅ You're approved for a first mortgage with a HOP participating lender
✅ Your household income falls within the limits shown in the graphic above
✅ All applicants complete HUD-approved housing counseling before receiving HOP assistance
✅ The home purchase price does not exceed $347,000 for existing homes or $371,000 for new construction homes

📍 The home must be located in Fulton County outside the City of Atlanta.

Fairburn, let’s talk about saving money, improving energy efficiency, and connecting your household with resources that can make a real difference.

The Office of Mayor Hattie Portis-Jones invites residents to the City of Fairburn Home Energy Resource Summit on Wednesday, September 9, from 1–4 p.m. at Fairburn City Hall Council Chambers.

This free community summit will connect residents with energy and housing professionals who can provide information on reducing home energy costs, energy-efficiency programs, utility and housing assistance, sustainable home solutions, and other valuable community resources.

Representatives from Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA), Nehemiah Project Community Development Corporation, and Atlanta Habitat for Humanity will be on hand to share information, answer questions, and help residents explore available programs.

✅ On-site application assistance will be available
🍽️ Lunch will be served

Please note that beginning Monday, August 31st , there will be an emergency sewage repair by contractors to remove potential sewer blockages from tree roots in the system.

Although there will be no impact to the residents, please be aware that this will be occurring on the following streets 🛣️:

Blackwing Court, Elder Street, Ember Court, Fieldstone Drive, Fireside Way, Hearth Way, Malone Circle, Rivertown Road, Splitwood Lane, Winding Brook Way, Winding Crossing Trail.

The repair will be completed on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

📚 Reading with the Mayor Expands Literacy Efforts
Mayor Portis-Jones' successful literacy initiative, Reading with the Mayor, welcomed a Book Club Initiative presentation from Dr. Sonya R. Hamm, Founder and CEO of Hamm Financial Group, further supporting a community-wide love of reading and lifelong learning.

🎶 Honoring a Southern Soul Legend
A proclamation was presented to the legendary Ms. Canzetta “Candi” Station, known as the First Lady of Southern Soul, in recognition of her remarkable contributions to the music industry and the countless artists and individuals she has inspired throughout her career.

👑 Celebrating Culture, Heritage, and Literacy
Council also received a presentation for another book club initiative from His & Her Imperial Majesties Jamel Oser VIII of the Kingdom of Numidoria. The Kingdom of Numidoria represents a modern continuation and cultural revival of a royal tradition rooted in African history, ancestral heritage, and the enduring identity of the African Diaspora.
