And more did come for Jonathan Mpiana. He was convicted of Indecent Solicitation of a Child and Grooming at a bench trial prosecuted by SA Gibson on March 26, 2026.

Mpiana then faced sentencing on July 8, 2026. SA Gibson elicited testimony regarding two separate cases involving Mpiana committing s*xual abuse on two different women, in which the prosecuting agencies dismissed charges, one in Knox County, Illinois, and one in Iowa City, Iowa. Utilizing the facts from those cases, Judge Minger found sufficient evidence to deem Mpiana a threat to society, and sentenced him to 4.5 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on the Indecent Solicitation and 2.5 years on the Grooming. Those sentences will be served consecutively to his prior case, in which he was sentenced to 4 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
