WE ARE HIRING!!!!!
Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for a Food Prep/Cook position at the 911 Center/Jail. This is a 35 hour per week full time position with a complete county benefit package. This shift is for the days of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Starting wage of $16.68/hour with raise after probationary period. Applicants should be 19 years of age or older, possess a high school diploma, have no felony or serious misdemeanor convictions and be able to complete required training courses within the first year of employment. Actual takeback event is from 10:00am to 2:00PM on Saturday April 25, 2026. As always our collection bin is available all year long inside the lobby of the Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office Lobby will be closed December 24th, 25th, 26th, 2025 due to the Christmas Holiday. There will be no VIN Inspections, Handgun Permits, or Civil Process. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!

We took the cold as long as we could today! We did leave Walmart an hour early from the Toy Drive. If we missed anyone and there are any toys for the collection you can drop them off at the Law Enforcement Center before Monday morning and we will get them to the giveaway Monday! Thank you Everyone for your support again this year! It is amazing to see how our community shows up and supports this event!! REMINDER!!! Our Collection events start this Friday Evening outside of Walmart!!!

It is that time of year again! Along with the Jefferson County Ambulance District 33 and Fairbury Rural Fire Department we are doing the annual Stuff an Emergency Vehicle again! With the help from Blue Valley Community Action Partnership - BVCA we will be collecting items for families in need this year in hopes to help make every kids holiday season a special one! See the below dates and times that we will be out collecting items in front of WalMart in Fairbury! Swing by and see us and help make a kids Christmas extra special this year!
