A letter from Town Manager Mike Bishop
*********************************************

May 18, 2026

Dear Community Members,

As Fairfax continues to grow, there have been increasing concerns and discussions regarding what type of police coverage best aligns with the level of police presence, responsiveness, and community-oriented policing the Town may seek to achieve moving forward.

To help ensure the Town is appropriately positioning itself regarding future police coverage, I am seeking approximately 5–7 community members interested in serving on a Police Advisory Group. While this group will serve in an advisory capacity, it will help assess different models of police coverage for the Town, including service expectations, costs, and broader public safety considerations.

I recognize that summer is approaching, and I want to remain respectful of people’s schedules and time commitments throughout this process. The anticipated commitment would be approximately 3 months. The group will have flexibility in determining how often to meet and what format works best, including the possibility of virtual meetings.

If you are interested in serving as part of this group, please email me at: [email protected].

Sincerely,

Mike Bishop, Town Manager
