If you know any information related to the hit and run of a 73-year-old farmer, please feel free to use our tip line to leave an anonymous tip. https://www.p3tips.com/tipform.aspx?ID=187 #

Garland Heddings, a local farmer, was struck by 2 vehicles going opposite ways of each other and killed in a hit & run less than a mile from our farm. He was walking to get his mail when the incident occurred.
While this has been shared several times in the local community groups, we figured it does not hurt to share again on our page to get more attention.

The family, along with police, are looking for any information on the vehicles who fled the scene. The local community has pooled together reward funds in an effort to get witnesses to come forward, this sum was $11,000 last time I checked but has been growing steadily with more locals adding to the reward funds. It is said that many vehicles had gone by around the time of the incident that could have potentially seen the damaged vehicles traveling through the area. The link below has contact information for the State Police should you have any information to share. The Heddings Farm page is also linked, as I am posting a photo from their farm, there’s more information posted to their homepage as well.

The Heddings Farm is another local farm that has been in operation longer than I’ve been alive. A well known and established farm here in Catlett, who we have bought hay from this year for the cattle. Folks drive dangerously fast on this road, and down ours as well - which makes for unsafe conditions for farmers working — or even just the folks trying to get their mail. We’re pleading for folks to slow down on these backroads. We’ve got blind turns, low lit areas, deep ditches, and other risks which make our farmers, neighbors, and families vulnerable to road accidents.

When the time comes for the Heddings Farm to be back to operating, we will share more ways to support their business through this life-altering event. As of now we are urging anyone to come forward with information, dash cam footage, security cameras, or any other helpful tips at the site or down the road from the site. This would include the entire length of Elk Run Road.

May there be Justice for Garland & the Heddings Family.
