Democrats For Life of America (DFLA)

Democrats For Life of America (DFLA) We are Democrats building a shared vision where every life is protected from womb to tomb. We believe in the core values and principles of the Democratic Party.

We believe in the fundamental worth, dignity, and equality of all people. We believe that the protection of human life is the foundation of human rights, authentic freedom, and good government. These beliefs animate our opposition to abortion, euthanasia, capital punishment, embryonic stem cell research, poverty, genocide, and all other injustices that directly and indirectly threaten human life. W

e are committed to freedom and justice, security and prosperity, equality and community, and hope and progress. We are proud to be members of the party that created the New Deal, Fair Deal, and New Frontier. We share the party’s commitment to the Four Freedoms: freedom of speech and religion, and freedom from fear and want. We look to continue and perfect the party’s commitment to the most vulnerable members of our society. We believe in the legal protection of unborn life and a comprehensive, bipartisan approach to reducing the number of abortions in America and around the world. We believe in supporting women and children, strengthening families and communities, and protecting the environment. We favor eliminating unfair discrimination, improving education, and preserving the American dream for all Americans. We believe in the elimination of the death penalty, euthanasia, and embryonic stem cell research. We believe in honest, efficient government that compliments the market and civil society to build a strong economy that benefits all Americans. We believe this can be achieved through consistent growth, sensible regulation, fair taxation, and adequate wages, along with efforts to ensure the equality of opportunity, a reduction in poverty, and the existence of an effective social safety net that guarantees that all people have sufficient access to food, shelter, health care, and life’s other basic necessities. Globally, we oppose tyranny, terrorism, genocide, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, human trafficking, and all other unjust acts of violence and aggression. We support international cooperation, the spread of democracy and human rights, and the empowerment of women. In representing pro-life Democrats within the true “big tent” party, DFLA works across a broad spectrum of life ethics. We recognize that people of good faith have different approaches to these issues; therefore, we refuse to use a single issue as a “litmus test” to exclude those who would otherwise seek common ground with us on the expansion of human rights. We encourage all people committed to the common good to work together to protect human life at all of its stages.

When dignity is pushed to the side, women pay the price.

Today begins the 3 Day campaign. Alexis "Lexi" Arguello died of complications after a Planned Parenthood failed to call 911 in time. Tomorrow a press conference will be held in front of the Fort Collins Planned Parenthood where Lexi and a dozen other women were injured.

Dr. Tom Perille of Democrats for Life: "For two consecutive years, bills have been introduced in the Colorado Assembly to grant the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment the authority to license, regulate, and inspect second and third trimester abortion facilities like they do other high risk healthcare facilities. Both times, the bills were defeated along party lines at the bequest of the abortion industry. Putting the abortion industry’s financial interests above the health and safety of Colorado women must stop."

Democrats for Life is proud to endorse Connecticut State Representative Treneé McGee for reelection because she embodies what it means to be a “pro-life for the whole life” Democrat. McGee has stood by her pro-life values in a time when too many candidates fold under the pressure of abortion politics.

Connecticut State Representative Treneé McGee is running for reelection, and her candidacy should teach the Democratic establishment an important lesson.

Starting in 2028, eligible workers in Virginia will be able to take up to twelve weeks of paid family and medical leave for events such as welcoming a new child, caring for a seriously ill loved one, recovering from a serious health condition, military family needs, or needs related to domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking.

The Paid Family and Medical Leave program is a big win for whole-life policy—But we can't ignore affordability. This is an opportunity for Democrats to fight for both pro-worker benefits and lower costs, because families should never have to choose one over the other.

Virginia Democrats should celebrate the enactment of a new Paid Family and Medical Leave program.

In a recent bipartisan letter, Senators James Lankford (R-OK) and Tim Kaine (D-VA), along with Representatives Greg Murphy (R-NC) and Lou Correa (D-CA), urge HHS and CMS to monitor physician-assisted su***de in hospice programs:

“All hospice patients—regardless of disability, age or financial means—deserve compassionate end-of-life care that is free of coercion and discrimination.”

Hospice should be a place of care and comfort, not coercion. Human dignity means protecting the vulnerable at all stages of life.

We frequently talk about protecting life in the womb because the tiniest victims have no voice.

The fight for life isn't about clickbait and online debates—it's about building a society that upholds the dignity of the human person.

A culture of life begins close to home: the way we speak, the way we serve, the way we respond to suffering, and the way we make room for people who feel forgotten. Human dignity is not an abstract idea. It is something we practice.

"As Democrats, we are supposed to believe that people do not lose their worth because they are poor, vulnerable, dependent, or likely to need help. We are supposed to believe that the answer to hardship is solidarity, not elimination.

So yes, some people really are pro-abortion. Not just legally supportive of it, but openly celebratory of it. I heard it for myself.

And it reminded me why pro-life Democrats need a voice in this party now more than ever."

Last week, we went to the Texas Democratic Convention to support Texas pro-life Democrats in their effort to be represented within the big tent of the Democratic Party.

Despite some negative comments thrown in our direction, we were overwhelmed by the number of delegates who agreed that the Democratic Party shouldn't exclude pro-life voices. It left us wondering—why do party leaders still insist on closing the tent?

And Other Lessons from the Texas Democratic Convention, Part I

Four years ago today, the Supreme Court issued its decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, overturning Roe v. Wade and ending nearly fifty years of court-imposed abortion policy. But the fight is far from over.

Yesterday, three bills addressing different aspects of abortion culture were denied fair consideration: Protecting Individuals with Down Syndrome Act, Protect Funding for Women’s Health Care Act, and Pregnant Students’ Rights Act. Yet, at the same time, California is pursuing nearly $20 million in penalties against Heartbeat International over its promotion of Abortion Pill Reversal.

The truth is Dobbs hasn't resolved the divide in our country and the disconnect in our culture. We can't truly win unless we work to build a society where women are supported and every life is valued.

Four years ago today, the Supreme Court issued its decision in Dobbs v.

"Why can we ask whether a chicken embryo may experience pain, but treat it as anti-woman to ask whether an unborn child may experience pain?" If Democrats can sympathize with the suffering of an unborn chicken, then why can't we understand that many voters want protection for developing human beings?

James Talarico has given the Democratic Party a chance to compete in Texas—but the path to victory won't be built by ignoring voters who believe unborn lives matter.

A recent New York Times opinion piece made an important point about the Democratic Party’s blind spot on abortion and its effect on electability: if Democrats want to win in red states like Texas, we need to stop pretending abortion is an issue where compromise is impossible.

Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, marking the day enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, finally received the news of freedom. That news came more than 900 days (2 and ½ years) after the Emancipation Proclamation took effect.

Juneteenth is a reminder that human dignity is not granted by government, culture, courts, or public opinion. It belongs to every person because every human being has inherent worth. Celebrating Juneteenth means honoring freedom, confronting injustice, and recommitting ourselves to a society where no human being is treated as disposable.

Happy Juneteenth.
