The practice of “rounding out” provides eligible GI Bill students in their last term with the option to take additional classes to bring their course load to full-time and receive a full-time monthly housing allowance.

Beginning on Aug. 1, 2021, you can “round out” in your last term, if you are taking classes that are approved for your program of education. Classes approved for a program of education means those that can be used to satisfy the graduation requirements of the program as specified in the curriculum. Classes that have been previously completed cannot be used to round out the student’s course load.

Please work with your School Certifying Official to plan out your course load. If you have any questions or need additional assistance with your GI Bill benefits, please contact the Education Call Center at 888-442-4551 between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Central Time, Monday through Friday.

It is with a very heavy heart that #MasonCOMM informs you of the passing of one of our own, Michael A. Dickerson, Colonel, USArmy Ret.

After a long and distinguished career in the US Army, Mike had a successful career as a public relations educator. As his colleagues and students know, he was passionate about what he taught and he loved his students above all.

Mike's legacy in our department is the founding of the Insight Committee Advisory board, which continues to flourish.

He will be interred at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery in honor of his great service to our country. He will be sorely missed by friends, former students, and colleagues.

We will share more details as we receive them.

GoArmyED Update
On 12 February 2021, the GoArmyEd system is scheduled to go offline to facilitate the migration of the Tuition Assistance (TA) program to ArmyIgnitED. This will be a permanent action and TA program services will resume in ArmyIgnitED on 8 March 2021.

Soldiers, Army Education Counselors, and educational institutions (EIs) will not be able to access TA data or functionality between 12 February 2021 and 7 March 2021. The data and functionality will be available to all users in ArmyIgnitED starting 8 March 2021.

HQ ACCESS will send information to currently listed POCs in GoArmyEd with the plans and timelines for training to include initial log in and ArmyIgnitED training. The schedule of trainings will be sent to EIs in a separate message once dates and times have been established (projected to occur in early February).

The Post-9/11 GI Bill, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs

Did you know that you can manage your education benefits online, with eBenefits?

The eBenefits website is the result of a collaboration between the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) and the Department of Defense (DoD) and is available to Veterans, Service members, Wounded Warriors, their family members, and their authorized caregivers. Access enables those who qualify to apply for benefits, verify enrollment status, and update contact and direct deposit information all in one place. You can also manage your other VA benefits, such as health and home loan, using the site. Access is free, but you must have a Premium account to access many of the tools, including viewing and changing personal information.

Here is some more information on how to get a Premium eBenefits account: https://bddy.me/33z6LjU
