🚨Important Travel Update: "Pause for Progress" (October 16–26)
Critical infrastructure work is scheduled in the First Street Tunnel south of Washington Union Station to replace aging track switches, tunnel infrastructure, and electrical systems. Operations for Amtrak and Virginia Railway Express will be significantly impacted south of DC:

Amtrak: Expect route modifications and coordinated bus connections (including bus bridges between Alexandria and Washington, DC), October 16-26. Current schedules reflect these changes.

VRE: Operating on a modified, S+ schedule to accommodate the construction, October 19-23.
This work will pave the way for a safer, more reliable rail network with fewer delays in the future. If you are traveling to or from the D.C. area during these dates, please plan ahead and give yourself extra time!

🚶 October is Pedestrian Safety Month!

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors recognized Pedestrian Safety Month today with a joint proclamation from Dranesville District - Supervisor Jimmy Bierman and Supervisor Rodney Lusk. Fairfax Families for Safe Streets joined the Board for this annual recognition and an important reminder of our shared responsibility to keep pedestrians safe.
