The US National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington has issued a Wind Advisory today! Winds gusting up to 50 mph are possible! Winds, along with saturated ground, may cause trees, tree limbs, and power lines to fall. Scattered power outages are possible.
#FCFRD reminds residents that downed power lines can be extremely dangerous! It is especially important to understand that downed lines can energize other objects, including fences, cars/trucks, buildings, bushes and trees, and telephone/cable TV cables. Assume all downed power lines are live and dangerous!
Great information from our friends at the Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI):

McLean and Tysons are continuing to evolve into a multimodal hub for Fairfax County residents with the completion of the Tysons East sidewalk project, celebrated today by Providence Supervisor Dalia Palchik and Supervisor John Foust. The sidewalk is located on the south side of Route 123 from Great Falls Street to Anderson Road and provides 2400 linear feet of a varied width sidewalk that connects people in McLean to the McLean Metrorail station. The shared use path provides access for walkers and bicyclists. Other components of the project include curbs and gutters, crosswalks, curb ramps, storm pipes and structures and a retaining wall.
