FCDOT is a Traffic Calming & Residential Programs Transportation Planner (Transportation Planner II) to join the Active Transportation, Capital Projects, and Traffic Engineering Division (ACTD)! 🚗🚸

This position works on projects in Fairfax County’s Residential Traffic Administration Program, including the Traffic Calming Program, Cut-Through Traffic Restriction Program, Through Truck Restriction Program, $200 additional Fine for Speeding Program and the Watch for Children Program. This position may also perform other work related to residential traffic safety as well as supporting residential parking programs and associated street sign management.

✂️🎉 A new way to find your way around Tysons!

FCDOT Deputy Director Martha Coello joined the Tysons Community Alliance, Metro Forward, Virginia Department of Transportation and other community partners today to celebrate TCA’s launch of Tysons’ new district-wide wayfinding system.

Eight new kiosks across Tysons’ four Metrorail stations will help travelers find more than 32 landmarks and destinations throughout Tysons.

Heads up! I-66 east and I-495 north impacted this evening (8/26) and overnight hours.

TRAFFIC ALERT!

August 26:Motorists should expect slow moving traffic, which is expected to cause significant travel delays, between 7 p.m. Aug. 26 and 5 a.m. Aug. 27 on I-77 north, I-81 north, I-66 east and I-495 north for a scheduled oversize load traveling north from North Carolina through Virginia to Maryland.

The oversize load will take up more than two lanes of traffic, which is expected to cause significant travel delays. As part of the approved route, there will be multiple planned pull-off locations to allow traffic to pass. Drivers are encouraged to avoid these routes overnight and check 511 ahead of necessary travel to avoid delays.

Virginia State Police will be supporting the transport by escorting the vehicle, and tow partners will be available to assist as needed.
